Forgot about Armstrong. Diallo - not sure if U21's are also in action? Can't find any sign of African countries playing.
I’m 28, so I’ve been going to Saints games for about 20 years now. Can someone older please let me know if we’ve ever had a plan B? I feel like we’ve never had one in the entirety of my time as a Saints fan
Just had a look Ref Burnley ....their last 10 games. = 2x wins, 5 draws. Looks like a draw is the most likely outcome.
At the start of this awful run we were playing decent and not having much rub of the green. We are missing some good players but the lack of fight and the fear in the players to take a calculated risk in position is really worrying. There looks a total lack of fight. Even if we have enough to get over the line this season it could well be a year stay of execution without considerable changes. Fair play to Brighton though. They were excellent and deserved to win
They looked pretty decent for sure. The great pity is whatever reasonably motivated team we play, they know for sure they've got the second half to win the match and fear little response from us. Regretfully the excuses we justifiably made before are no longer the issue. So between the coaching staff, Ralph and the players, have an opportunity to demonstrate that they can answer in a positive way the mounting questions being raised. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt now and see. Frustrating but that's life.
The group stage of the U21 Euros is taking place (there isn't space to play the entire competition before or after the main Euros this summer - so only the KO stages will be played then, with the group stages this month). Wikipedia is still showing the next round of both the AFCON qualifiers, and Asian World Cup qualifiers, this month. But I've got no idea if that is up-to-date.
Yeah it is. I was just looking at WC qualifying. Japan are playing so there are going to be a number of players missing. But both fullbacks and most of our attacking players will be there. He can work on the partnership between Ings and Adams. And Ralph himself will finally have time to think!
Lethargic performance today. Every time play broke down, a Brighton player was first to the ball. We didn`t create enough, and Brighton deserved to win.
I am not bothered about 40 points as I don't think that will be needed to keep our PL status and Fulham have too much to do. Nothing can be as bad as the 2017/2018 season when Reed kept backing Pellegrino (even brought him £20m Carrillo ffs) and only replaced him with 8 matches left with Mark Hughes who had already relegated Stoke by that time. Despite everything that could go wrong and more luck than anything we survived with only 36 points needed.
Not sure we will beat Burnley or West Brom. West Brom will aim to keep it tight, have every one behind the ball and hope to get one on the break. Not sure I fancy either of these games
I think we had a poll on here a few seasons ago about where fans thought our natural position should be and I think 11th-14th was the most popular. So over the season we are roughly where we should be but the results obviously need to get better to maintain it. I still say that the most important match of the season is coming up next and if we win that I think the league will pale into insignificance as we will surely get the points that we need to be comfortably safe.
Forget where they are in the league, they’ve been playing very well for a while. I saw this coming and posted so in the week. I also don’t think home or away makes a jot of difference without fans. It’s just a pitch. I’m not defending the team as they aren’t good at all second half, I just find it annoying when I read comments such as “expect” and “against bottom teams”... this is football and it just doesn’t work like that. They were better on the day and have been better over the last several weeks, just not for the results.
