We are not going down. Some people really need to man up. No one here is happy about the run we're on but get some ****ing perspective. We have 9 games left. We could draw them all and stay up comfortably. Or 1 win and a few draws. It's no wonder I hear so many groans and moans when I go to St Mary's.
Quite, and a couple of weeks, as I mentioned earlier, of recovery, more resources available, and manager who will no doubt revived, should do the job!
Thanks, Chilco. Beat me to it .... My Mum’s favourite film/show - I grew up listening to it regularly ...... she was known as “Bloody Mary” by my old man
Looking at it dispassionately we have accrued 4 points in 13 games. We need 7 points from 8 games to stay up. (Potentially, argue the semantics if you feel like it) We need to nearly double our points return. Even being optimistic we have got 4 points in the last 6. So if we maintain our best recent form we will need to win one of the last 2 games of the season to stay up. This squad has very little fight or spirit in it and Ralph has been calling us **** far too much recently for me to feel optimistic. But I accept that there is literally nothing I can do to affect the outcome so I'll watch dispassionately from afar and see what the team does.
I doubt 40 is the line. I'd imagine 1 win and 1 draw will be sufficient: someone in the trailing group will fail to reach 37. And as terrible as we have been, I'm sure we can manage that.
Our form is worse than fulham, worse than brighton, worse than Burnley, on a par with Newcastle. I'm prepared.
We better get a load of half decent players in the summer cos we genuinely can't keep blaming playing lots of football matches for being **** at football matches forever. We hate that excuse from the big clubs so let's not get all hypocritical... Decent back up and then better options for rotation and no more excuses.
Problem is, just to have the backup/squad depth Ralph is after we need a LB, a RB and probably a CM, and that’s before we’ve even sold anyone. If we sell Ings and Vestergaard, we need five signings this summer. Obviously there are players we need to sell that we don’t need to replace like Hoedt, Lemina and Elyounoussi, but there are players that we should be looking to sell and who will need replacing like Redmond and Long. We may not make the Walcott and Minamino loans permanent, so there could be another two squad places to fill. Lots of hypotheticals, but I just can’t see us making that much of an overhaul or that many signings this summer under current ownership.
Be fair, there was nothing about those numbers that was inaccurate. The 33 points we got from 29 games won't keep us in the Premiere League, now its all about what happens next. I don't expect us to go down but when we put out a strong team and lose in that manner that's another opportunity gone by and the next one becomes more important.
I don’t think there’s anyone out there that doesn’t think we need more players to rotate. However, if we get them and start rotating, there’ll be a queue of people moaning that we’re rotating.
