We were all over the shop after the changes, positives are Picky, JoS and Wes, Paddy and Jones plus AJ who had another very good game. Sam got it all wrong today, but at half time looked like he was getting away with it. Sad thing is we are now going to have to pick ourselves up after a very poor second half for what could be the most crucial game of the season, the good vibes after the Swansea game have been swept away by poor management and even worse substitutions, surely Coates would have been a better call if we were to go three at the back. Big Sam must do better next time.
Thing that gets me the most is chucking in a new signing who's not match fit never played in the prem before and on top of that changing the formation all at the same time!!! Not only did we lose the game he could have potentially crushed big Jan's confidence and he might never recover from that.. Pissed right off.
I can see it now, shell of a man. He'll be ok man. More concerned about his injury record than his confidence.
I think Sam will realise this now, at the time I thought he was shoring up the midfield with Jan, as he had hinted at this in the week, but as you say to take such a gamble was un-Sam like. Coates would have been a safer option imo. however the JoS/Wes pairing has been a real possitive this week and the introduction of the new "Monty" gives us hope, a decent team selection next week (no DG please) will see us back on track, its not all doom and gloom by any means after to-day, just a little deflating when we almost went in with a one goal lead at half time.
The ref against the Sheep Shaggers last Wednesday got one decision horribly wrong, and that was the penalty he gave to them...The decisions regarding Defoe's goals were proved to be correct, and the sending off was in my opinion the correct one due to his obvious intent.
So Sam has won as many games in 14 spending 750k as Tufty has managed in 22 with 70m spent. Looks like we held off for the right manager. Problem is Squad and investment imo. @clip
Well done Sam just think what you could of done with another £249,250,000 LVG has only managed 3 more points.
I think he's shown enough in the last 3yrs to suggedt he can control that red mist now. Dont think he was having a great game as it happens, just dont like to think he has to be removed cos he can't control himself
Guess it depends who finishes in the bottom 3 , £750,000 spend might turn out to be a very expensive mistake.
