Add in the number of people who haven't presented because their symptoms are very mild or go unrecognised and that mortality rate will be significantly lower.

A very dangerous and incredibly contagious Virus.

Older types will sadly verify this...

Same could be said of normal flu too though, so it’s not so much the mortality rate that is relevant when deciding how serious to take it, it’s the comparison with mortality rates of other illnesses.
Mortality rate of normal flu is about 0.1% and that won’t include the people you mention either.
Therefore, assuming that figure was right, it’s roughly 60 times more deadly than normal flu.

    Take it on the chin?

Visited Italy a few times in the 90s mainly around Bologna or San Marino. One thing that stood out at the time on out visits there was the number of over 70s and 80s living a long and healthy life.. obviously the famous Mediterranean diet must be working here but in Hindsight that seems to be what this virus now loves.

Looking at the mortality rate of ages 70-75+ may be more indicative of relative efficacy of this particular virus.

The mortality rate is about the same as for flu. Not 60 times

I’m not watching a video thanks
    Life is literally too short
I was simply using the mortality rate quoted on this thread for Italy (6.1%) and comparing it to the known rate for flu 0.1%

Italy has an old population, so will be higher, however all the rates I’ve seen suggest the rates aren’t the same

21.9% mortality in China for over 80’s

See post # 428. Sensationalist reporting appears to be not understanding why demographic stat analysis is so important.

Would that give them the excuse they’re desperately after to shut down Parliament?

Shut down parliament & set up a War Cabinet ? Is that constitutional if the aggressor is a virus ?

Looks like my place of work will be off limits within the next week. The place is dead and getting quieter.

    Exactly.
Plus, to give it some context, it's 1 person in every 103,000 of the population.
It will of course likely get worse still though for them (and us).
