Norway has gone into lock down from 1700 today. Schools and kindergartens have closed indefinitely, public services have been moved to skeleton staff, public transport reduced and a request to be 1 metre from other humans in public - the remaining open restaurants, public transport, shops etc. Erna Solberg has publicly requested that all Norwegians abroad head home ASAP, which indicates if the infection rate worsens, the borders will be shut properly - flights in and out halted. Already health services are being stretched and the knock on effect is huge.

In one way, we're lucky that the sovereign wealth fund is there for the government to use to pay us for being at home, rather than business, so hopefully won't be too many bankruptcies.

From what I know of the UK, there are too many people living month to month, dependant on salary, and also not an adequate ID system to pay out salaries for those at home, so to close schools and force parents out of work, could collapse the economy. Difficult times. The answer was there in January to shut the border there and then, but the Gods of commerce and free movement rule at the moment.

Listen to the experts. They known more than us.
When we get on an aeroplane we expect the pilot can fly the plane.

    Nuff said

My concern is that, in the unlikely event of me meeting either Boris Johnson or Ehab Allam in the near future, neither will truly understand ...

why I refuse to shake his hand.

It's not just the UK. Many westerners think they know better. Italians, Danes, Norwegians (of which I know of) have been using their quarantine time to do some shopping and go to the gym. Pig headed selfishness and done by those who will survive if contract the disease. The elderly woman they cough on maybe not so.

It's easy to be negative about Brits, but the difference between other Euro nations isn't that much anymore. Other than Italians being annoyingly loud on beaches and standing up to get their hand luggage whilst the plane is still taxiing on the runway.

All them people you know of ... have you been tested? Seems like you’re the common denominator.

I've not looked into it that closely, but just hearing that they've increased the number of people sampled, so doesn't that skew the figures for the numbers diagnosed?

I don't know anyone who has it here. The whole country has been more or less quarantined, bar essential service staff.

It's picking up all across Europe. The Germans are putting towels on the hospital beds.
