number 1 priority is Bruce out mate. We could have the best two CM’s in the world and Bruce will either fall out with them or play them out of position. We are joke of a club, ran by a clown and managed by Mr Tumble.
Hayden 18-19 P 25 assists 4 goals 1 19-20 P 29 assists 2 goals 1 20-21 P 24 assists 0 goals 0 Shelvey 18-19 P 16 assists 1 goals 1 19-20 P 26 assists 2 goals 6 20-21 P 26 assists 2 goals 1 Longstaff 18-19 P 9 assists 0 goals 1 19-20 P 23 assists 1 goals 1 20-21 P 18 assists 1 goals 0 So between them 13 assists over 3 seasons. 12 goals over 3 seasons. This season alone: Jack Grealish 10 assists 6 goals. Phil Foden 5 assists 7 goals Bruno Fernandez 11 assists 16 goals
All our cms are **** bar willock who's been Benched despite having 4 goals in 10 and having more ability than the others by ****ing miles. He's also not our player, so he's not going to to stay.
All 3 of them this season have been awful. I’d say longstaff has been the worst. Shelvey should be setting an example. He was lazy as **** yesterday. I can’t believe we gave him a new contract. Hayden can be excused a little bit as his role is different.
I don't disagree with what most posters have said here but Shelvey genuinely is the weak link. He's too slow to work in the modern game. He just tries to sit deep and always takes the second touch. You need more mobility in the modern game. Longstaff has been poor but like a lot have said, it can't help being in a Bruce team. No one has progressed. I do think Longstaff and Hayden could work in the 4 3 2 1 formation I'd their role is to work hard, close down, and make simple passes. Almiron, ASM and Joelinton behind Wilson is enough creativity.
We've just got loads of central midfielders who are not good enough - at least not to start in the PL, the single most important area on the pitch. Hayden would be ok back up. I could even accept the two Longstaffs as back up being developed. Shelvey I just have no time for even as back up. He's horrific now. To be fair he was suited to Rafa's style where he didn't have to run. No the game is moving on, everyone is playing high press high intensity football. He can't. Bruce is Bruce, he likes Shelvey and is too thick to realise that any hopes he has of playing more modern more attacking football are being directly hindered by a player he refuses to drop. Its verging on the insane. Hendrick I wanted to give a chance to but he adds nothing. Willock is better and more modern than anything we have. I said in the summer the two players we needed to sign above any other was a quality holding midfielder, and a quality ball playing midfielder. I still maintain those two signings would transform the team into comfortable mid table dwellers. Personally I think we have a quality front three in ASM, Almiron, and Wilson. Lots of pace, lots of energy, lots of workrate. If we two had two central midfielders of their quality, I think we'd be pretty dangerous.
Apparently the move to Everton is real and a deal upwards of 10m is on the cards. My Everton mate thinks Rafa is making a huge mistake. I said I agreed. Lol
