19th October update; I have modified the season tables - table 4 has been changed back to the familiar table from the last couple of seasons. This gives a better visual representation of our progress, as opposed to the other table which was just a bank of numbers. I hope the new (old style) table works better...
19th October update II; Table 4 has now been updated to include progress from all our most recent six League One seasons. Including 2011-12 101 points
From your player profiles I’ve noticed that there are a few new signings who come from London and the South East. I believe this bodes well for team spirit
On ITTV member '995632' explained that there has been a 42% rise in muscle injuries to Premier League players this season so far compared to previous seasons, resulting (it is thought) from the lack of a proper summer break and the very short pre-season. I wonder what the rate of muscle injuries is in the EFL leagues - whether the increase is comparable with that in the PL. Assuming that is known, let's see if the rate of muscle injuries in the EFL drops to normal levels for previous seasons after this rule has been in place for a week or two. I'm not sure it will, though there may be a measurable improvement. Changing the rules halfway through a season is wrong in my opinion. It's irrelevant whether or not Charlton Athletic have one of the 'deeper squads' and will benefit fro it. Assuming we strengthen our squad still further in January, this ruling will make automatic promotion theoretically more likely for us. Though A) This rule will also benefit the managers who can make the shrewdest tactical sub decisions. I don't know whether LB is one of those. B) This rule may allow teams to pack their defences and kill the game after going 1-0 up. How many subs will be allowed on the bench? Will it still be just 7? (which would limit the scope for point B above) or will there be 9 subs? Or another number?
