Season 2021/22 start date confirmed for Sky Bet EFL

    The EFL can confirm the key dates across the League and its competitions for the 2021/22 campaign, with the season set to get under way across the Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two on the weekend of 7th August 2021.

    The Sky Bet EFL Play-Offs will once again be staged at Wembley Stadium and conclude the season across two weekends in May. The League One Final will start proceedings on Saturday 21st May 2022, before League Two and the Championship take centre stage the following weekend on Saturday 28th May and Sunday 29th May 2022, respectively.

    Details regarding the 2021/22 fixture release day will be announced in due course.

    A full list of the key dates ahead of the 2021/22 EFL season can be found below:

    • Start Date – Saturday 7th August 2021 (with a live television game likely on Friday 6th August)
    • Carabao Cup Round One – w/c 9th August 2021
    • Carabao Cup Final – Sunday 27th February 2022
    • Papa John’s Trophy Round One – w/c 30th August 2021
    • Papa John’s Trophy Final – Sunday 3rd April 2022
    • Regular Season Final Day
      • League One – Weekend of 30th April 2022
      • League Two & Championship – Weekend of 7/8th May 2022
    • League One Play-Off Final – Saturday 21st May 2022
    • League Two Play-Off Final – Saturday 28th May 2022
    • Championship Play-Off Final – Sunday 29th May 2022

    Think you meant to put this on the Portsmouth board.

    The Sunderland board isn't right for this.

    Edit: misread this like a twat. Thought it was about EFL League One. Turns out it's about the championship as well. Hoping we go up twice this season and my idiocy proves correct. Not holding my breath.

    God I hope we are back in the stadiums by then. Already been over a year since I saw us live. Never thought I'd miss it as much as this. Going to be very ****ing loud first match back. Would be brilliant if we were Friday night game in the championship with a full house under the lights. Show KLD what the matchday experience is all about

    I was hoping that it would be 14th. Daughter's wedding on 7th. Hope we're away that day. I would hate to miss the first game back, but it would be better than missing my bollocks!
