Pretty sure I read that the Fatfield viaduct is part of the plans for the Metro going to Washington. Could possibly have been for that.
I think I read something on Facebook about Lucianos not getting sorted, hope they do find something though.
Yes it would be a shame as a bit of an institution. Just what I've heard so may or may not be true. But would be nice to see some nice bars and people using them.
I agree that the Fatfield Viaduct would be for the Metro Extension, but the area of Penshaw that Network Rail were at on Tuesday would be more conducive to a line running towards Fence Houses and Durham, unless they were looking for a possible siting of Penshaw station and are planning a sharp bend down towards James Steel Park.
I think the line at Penshaw is the "Leamside Loop" which passes through Springwell Village from Gateshead on to Fencehouses through to Durham.
Along with the new E-Sports Headquarters, this is great news for that area. Things are really starting to take shape on both sides of the river.
The hotel opposite Vaux looks excellent, drove past it the other day. Once Idols gets flattened that area will have seen massive changes.
I remember when some lunatic, on RTG, claimed the Dell lads wanted to get involved in pushing forward plans to improve the approach to the stadium, totally redo the Metro/train station, develop Sheepfolds, etc etc etc ... ... I wonder whatever happened to him
