I thought, back in August, do the Man Utd thread, lose, go on holiday and let someone else have a go, but here we are, on a 5 match unbeaten run, and well, “Who’s the Daddy?” Like the last EFL Cup game, we go into this one as favourites and again, like the last game, I expect Ralph will have a tinker with the line up, especially after the energy expended in the worthy draw at the Etihad. Sheffield Utd haven’t started the season too well, but a good 1-3 win at Hull will give them a bit of confidence for this one. Our last 4 Premier League games against Sheff Utd have all been wins for the Saints, but I do seem to recollect Saints going to Sheffield Utd a few years ago, one win away from the semi final, and we put out a weakened team, were absolutely dire, and suffered a 1-0 defeat. I think there are some, on this forum, who still haven’t got over that result (meltdown iirc), who will be hoping that we can put things right by taking this one more seriously and be in the draw for the next round. Those with even longer memories (Godders) will still be cursing our defeat, at the hands of Sheffield Utd, in the 1902 FA Cup final, where we were beaten 2-1 in a replay at Crystal Palace. This match report has drawings, and if you look closely you can see Godders in the crowd scene. https://www.fa-cupfinals.co.uk/1902.html Anyway, let’s do it and get a cushy home draw in the next round.
Sheffield United v Southampton (19:45) REFEREE:- JOHN BROOKS ASSISTANTS:- Gary Beswick and Wade Smith Fourth Official : Anthony Taylor
Going to the match on Tuesday. Last time I went to Bramhall Lane on a Saturday afternoon, I parked at Meadowhall Shopping Centre, then got the tram to the city centre. Not sure if this is best option for a night match. Has anyone got a better option for parking in the city centre?
As much as a cup run would be lovely, we need to get our first win in the league. I still think we win this with 4-5 first teamers rested. Forster Valery Bednarek Lyanco Perraud Diallo JWP Tella Djenepo Adams Broja
Here. A couple of hundred yards of free parking. Seven or eight minute walk to the ground. After the game, head southeast on that road. At the top turn right. After half a mile you come to a huge junction. Left turn leads to M1. Vin
Forster KWP - Bednarek - Lyanco - Perruad JWP - Diallo Redmond - Moi Tells - Broja I would like to see the much suggested KWP/Tino right side given a chance, but Ralph doesn’t seem to use the games to work on partnerships and team chemistry
Forster KWP - Lyanco - Bednarek - Small Diallo - JWP Tella - Djenepo Broja - Armstrong Would be what I’d do, probably be Perraud instead of Small
