The Greater Manchester official will be taking charge of a Swans' fixture for just the third time, having overseen the home defeat to Derby County last term as well as this season’s home win over Rotherham. Having officiated in the EFL as an assistant referee, Donohue elected to focus solely on being the man with the whistle from 2016. He refereed in the second tier for the first time last season. Donohue will be assisted by Nik Barnard and Rob Smith, while Geoff Eltringham is the fourth official.
Steve Cooper has named an unchanged starting line-up for this evening’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday. The Swansea City head coach keeps faith with the same XI that started the morale-boosting 3-0 win over Millwall at the weekend. The only change in the entire matchday squad sees Kieron Freeman come onto the bench in place of Ben Cabango, who misses out due to a breach of Covid-19 regulations. Freddie Woodman is in goal, behind a back four made up of centre-half Ryan Bennett and Marc Guehi, and full-backs Kyle Naughton and Ryan Manning. Skipper Matt Grimes again links up with Jay Fulton and Conor Hourihane in the middle of the park, with Jamal Lowe and Wayne Routledge operating out wide. Andre Ayew will again lead the line for the Swans. Sheffield Wednesday: Keiren Westwood, Liam Palmer, Sam Hutchinson, Joey Pelupessy, Barry Bannan (captain), Adam Reach, Julian Borner, Tom Lees, Josh Windass, Jordan Rhodes, Liam Shaw. Substitutes: Joe Wildsmith, Callum Paterson, Kadeem Harris, Matt Penney, Andre Green, Osaze Urhoghide, Alex Hunt, Izzy Brown, Elias Kachunga. Swansea City: Freddie Woodman; Kyle Naughton, Ryan Bennett, Marc Guehi, Ryan Manning; Jay Fulton, Matt Grimes (captain), Conor Hourihane; Wayne Routledge, Andre Ayew, Jamal Lowe. Substitutes: Ben Hamer, Connor Roberts, Jake Bidwell, Kieron Freeman, Joel Latibeaudiere, Korey Smith, Yan Dhanda, Ollie Cooper, Morgan Whittaker.
Unlucky Ben , you may have forfeited the opportunity to finish the season off on a high. I'm happy with the side (who wouldn't be after the last game) , now lets see whether it was luck rather than judgement .
My mate just WhatsApped me to say we’ve had no shots on target after 25 mins, they’ve had 2 and Freddie just made a great save
