The following thread is the list of results for participants in the Shrews supporters prediction league. I will try and post a list of participants and their score. Points will be awarded for: Score - final score (accurate 3 points, in same ratio 1 point) Scorers for town (Exact scorers in goal order get 2 points each, otherwise point for a named scorer) Attendance Make you predictions on the pre-match thread. Current table: (End of Season) Matster 44 ManFeelings 30 Atcham Jack 26 3332 Lenny 25 Tinned Hats 16 KDS 16 Greenhousemeadowman 12 Jenny 11 Shrewsie 10 Uncle Grahams Barmy Army 3 Whatshrew 1 Vanner 1 If you ever spot any mistakes let me know what and where!
Shrewsbury vs Crewe 2-0 McAllister, Wroe attendance 5050 Atcham Jack 0 Matster 0 ManFeelings 0 Uncle Grahams Barmy Army 1 (closest attendance) Whatshrew 0 In bold are people who predicted for this match (plus previous scores)
None of us has done well! Should I give points for scorers if someone predicts 3-1 and the first two scorers are right in a 2-1 result, or should I only award points if the (home??) score is correct?
Nah, simples. 1 point correct score 1 point for each scorer 1 point point for attendance Only thing is what to award scoring wise, should you only award points for scorers if it matches the final score. Which i think is the best solution
as simple as poss. final score, 1 point scorers, 1 point final score, 1 point nearest attend. fs coys
The moot point is one point for each scorer or one point for all being predicted correctly no matter how many.

As a suggestion I might give 3 points for an accurate scorline and 1 point for a scorline on the same ratio. E.g if prediction is 3:1 and the result is 4:2 then a is point awarded, if you predict 1:1 and it ends up 2:2 i'll award one point; obviously if yet get it exact then you get three points! Okay for all?
Fine with me. However, if I did it, I would structure the system something like this: 5 points for the exact scoreline (i.e. 3-1 win), 3 points for the closest attendance, 2 points for the scorer of each goal correctly predicted (i.e. predicting Collins x2 vs Torquay would get 4 points) and a point for the correct result (i.e. win/draw). So say I said we'd beat Torquay 2-0, with an attendance of 5263 and Collins getting both, that'd be 5 for the scoreline, 3 for the attendance, 4 for the scorers and 1 for the result, and thus a total of 13 points. When I had a predo league with some mates, that's the structure I did. But anyway, this is, as they say, your show. I would like to also say thanks for doing this Matster as I can see how time-consuming it must be.
Cheers for the input Lenny. I can see where you're coming from with that, but there is no difference between getting 2 points for a correct prediction or 1 point, unless you can award a point for not being completely accurate. It's bloody confusing sometimes and it is only a trial that I hope we can all evolve together. BRB on the Gills board runs quite a simple one, but they try to get different predictions to maximise their scores. One possibilty is awarding 2 points if you get the exact scorers in the exact order...
True, I think the main benefit of offering a different amount of points is that is easier to get the one of the scorers than it is to guess the scoreline. I'm happy to run a league next season, as I can set up an excel spreadsheet to keep it organised without having to work hard. As you say, this is just a trial run, though, and it's just nice to have some form of friendly competition. Another possibility I would consider would be having the table at the top of the thread, and updating it after every match so that it's easier to see the scorers.
