Blackpool win at Oxford. The tangs are sneaking under the radar. Need to carry on the good work and smash posh on Tuesday.
I think that's a game we would have lost a few months ago. We havent been good at grinding out results, which is something a team going for promotion has to do. Definitely a point gained.
It was a dreadful game of football. Two decent goals which by definition cancelled each other out - and that was that. We were served up with dross of the lowest quality. It was awful. Really, really awful. So bad that I've no idea whether we lost 2 points or a gained a point. The facts are that we got a point. As did Shrewsbury. Neither of us deserved anything though. We should have both have got no points and the points available should have been donated to charity.
I haven't checked but the commentator said that Shrewsbury had beaten Peterborough, Lincoln and Sunderland at home in their recent run. So, some consultation in a point but it was an awful game.
Gosh, that was a tough watch, partly because of the ref's performance, a stop/start game and they should have had 2 or 3 sent off for persistent fouls. Again, we struggle against teams that pack the midfield, we didn't really lay a glove on their back 3, and Mc Cann said he knew how they would play, so really should have started with Magennis, as he refused to match their formation, so it was a case of balls over the top to bypass their midfield which you need a forward that can hold the ball up. Nevertheless, I agree with a previous poster that in the past, we would have lost that game, so credit to them for digging a point out. With most other games yielding favourable results we have lost nothing and one game less to go. Well, onto the next one, let's hope the performance next week is better than this one.
The shortest highlights in the history of highlights.... I think what got to us yesterday was grass...... first time we've played on it in a while...
We’ve consistently struggled against teams that play 3 at the back. It forces us to just launch the ball forward and even with Magennis on the pitch we aren’t really set up for that. Gillingham will be incredibly tough, they’ll be well up for it so we will need to be on our game.
There have been a few teams that have put in impressive runs, ourselves included, but sooner or later slowed down. Let’s hope Sunderland are next. Think Peterborough are going to hit theirs now starting from when we dispatched them.
The cynic in me suggests that it’s League One with this squad he absolutely should be doing as well as he is. But it’s a tough league to get out of, so if we manage it at the first attempt he deserves credit. He’ll need more to wipe off the relegation, but at least it’s a start.
Not sure how he's still reffing! In the Swansea-Boro game he gave Swansea a corner. Three of theirs get around him and he gives them a penalty. If he's been demoted looks as if Champs gain, is L1s loss.
Despite the obvious antagonism that’s still around for McCann, last seasons train wreck is old rope now. Can only judge the bloke again when it matters most and that’s May.
I think you're right. I'd be a bit shorter term when judging him though. Game by game at present - he should have more than the ultimate ****house Evans this weekend coming up - so let's wait and see.
On Saturday, John Hawley, Stan McEwan and Justin all talked about players having the desire to win the league even if it means that they may be part of the next seasons squad. I was quite surprised by the strength of that desire, my Dad used to express the opinion that the players lost games on purpose so that they wouldn’t lose their jobs. I suppose that we as supporters do not see it the same way. Our players always want to win and will always have that desire.
Blast from the past there. As a side note anyone else notice when a clubs doing really well the injuries and niggles just seem to dry up?
The strength of their conviction certainly surprised me and I wish my Dad was still around to hear it.
