I would imagine NP will realise Cooper will probably benefit more from staying at Carlisle for the rest of the season. In that case, I think he'll be on the look out as we speak to bring somebody in. If he doesn't like what he says he knows Cooper can come back and will probably try and get Ayala in as well. Speaking of which, anybody any idea of an update on the ayala situation? Seemed like Derby were after a fairly quick answer to solving their defensive issues.

 

Signing a 21 year old and putting him straight in the first XI doesn't bode particularly well for a 19 year old player. If you assume Chester is going to be a cornerstone for the next few years then that leaves Cooper trying to fight it out for 1 CB slot. Cooper will almost certainly stay at Carlisle for the rest of the season. At that point the management can reassess (they can almost get a like-for-like comparison being that he replaced Chester). He has to work hard at Carlisle to get himself back in the frame and it looks like he's started pretty well.

We are pretty thin at the back and I would expect to see someone come in either this week or on an emergency loan in the near future.

Re: Ayala it seems to have gone quiet. The Derby fans are suggesting that Clough and their Chairman are a bit Brown/Duffenesque in that they announced Ayala and Waghorn before a deal was even remotely complete and still neither of them have signed.

He's also got Cooper, Kilbane, and Halmosi. Think the unfinished names and dots was him sarcastically going through all the options we had and then 'remembering' they've left this month.
