One of the greatest choons ever recorded. Any genre. Alas she'd been ill for a considerable while now and part of me is relieved for her. Great innings considering the **** she had to put up with, particularly when she was younger. Brilliant singer, fantastic show woman. She will be missed.
Sad news indeed - she was such a powerful & energetic singer throughout her whole career. As a little aside - the name of the author of that article rings a bell, I don't suppose she is the former presenter of The Hive? I remember she left to work with Sky, but haven't seen or heard of her since.
Just researched 'Emma Saunders BBC' - a Sports Journalist on BBC 5 Live from Hemel Hempstead. Certainly looks and sounds like 'our' Emma - and clicking on the Twitter link given seems to confirm that.
We went to the musical Tina last year, a fitting tribute to a great artist and boy did she give 110%. RIP Tina who is now "Beyond the Thunderdome"
I was lucky enough to be in the crowd for this performance at the 1993 NSW Rugby League grand final in Sydney, when she had the whole crowd in her pocket, all singing Simply the Best along with her. She had over 40,000 Private Dancers that day. The NSWRL boss had bought the rights to the song for 7 years in 1990 and, in one of the most successful marketing campaigns ever seen in Australia, used it in ads which raised the profile of the game right across the country. A little known fact - she was an avid rugby league fan and had re-arranged her Australian tour dates to coincide with the finals series.
That's what I'd call a moribund Twitter handle - only used twice since 2012 - the last time in 2015. This one is more likely - https://showbizcorner.com/who-is-emma-saunders-wikipedia-bio-of-bbc-5live-sport-anchor
