Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere but the grumpy git of the managerial duo at Grimsby has resigned or been sacked! Paul Hurst on his own from now on! That'll teach him not to mess with Lord John Tondeur of South 'umbersarde! (I am joking about the last bit!)
Mike White ‏@mikewhitesport 2h Interesting developments at #gtfc as Paul Hurst placed in sole charge with Rob Scott departing it seems. Chasing further clarification. Wonder if that's anything to do with the Tondeur interview?
It is interesting to me that 1 seems happy to carry on without the other. They seemed to come 'as a pair' so I wonder if even Hurst thinks he went too far? Otherwise surely he'd quit in a show of solidarity. Doomed to fail now anyway, Scott always seemed top dog with Hurst the assistant.
Just spoke to a colleague who is a Grimsby fan of 30 years standing and he reckons that the managers took in turns (one day Hurst and next day Scott) to run the training sessions and the players preferred Hurst. Also, he thinks Scott had lost the changing room before a ball was kicked off this season. He also thinks the Scott incident captured on video (which apparently had pi$$ed off Fenty) followed by the recent Tondeur incident was a factor. If there's any Codheads looking in - please give us your version!
Probably away from football he is a super bloke, but from listening to his pre / post-match stuff on RH he comes across as an arrogant and humourless prick. Anyway, as much as i'm not arsed either way, Grimsby really need to get out of that league pronto.
He came across as a right dick whenever he was interviewed on 'umbersard. Must have something to do with that Tondeur interview.
I listened to the infamous interview with JT, Scott spoke like a prick, arrogant, and up himself, if he spoke like that to any other bloke he`d get a smack in the mouth. Not surprised the surly barsteward has been sent packing, good riddence to him, I dare say all the Grimsby fans will be rejoicing tbh.
True, but until their owner tries to change their name to Grimsby Town Mariners a la the camel-botherers, I'll refrain from laughing
For those of us that avoid RH interviews unless they involve city, can someone summarise what happened in the JT interview?
They're changing their name to Garoupa Town, to appeal to the Asian market, while staying true to their heritage.
I don't see Grimsby as a rival. Probably because we have not played a league game against them in my lifetime I actually hope they do well. It doesn't that long ago since they where in Championship. As for Scott. Everytime I've heard him interview on RH he's come across as having massive chip on his shoulder.
