I know it's a game of opinions but it honestly staggers me that anyone can think VAR has made the game better. It's not solved anything and it's also made it far less enjoyable. A huge shame.
Ralph Hasenhuttl on the VAR controversy: "The handball was a great save, good goalkeeping. It was a really good save and we should probably cut the sleeves off our player's shirts too so that they are onside..."
You may recall I was in favour of it being introduced, but I said before we started using it that we should time limit it to 10 seconds and to not use the pitch side screens. I also didn’t want the game stopped. They can check and talk to the referee through his microphone. Nobody in the stadium needs to know. Today, I believe the combination of rule changes and rules interpretation to allow use of VAR is killing the game. yesterday and the goal against Villa last week have pushed me over the edge
I said it was all about key moments from Grealish and Ingsy I forgot to factor in VAR The more they try to make the laws work with detail, but the more it will create dumb-ass decisions You can now juggle the ball using your hands as long as you touch it with your body first Next seasons shirts will have shorter sleeves
Have to agree 100% with this. I am not convinced it has made judgement calls any more accurate and just ensured that someone else's opinion is added to the controversy. I am not sure what the offside rule is now. VAR has not solved the problem and simply created another problem by looking at things from a totally different perspective with technology. Difficult decision making has not been resolved by it;s introduction. The handball and offside goal decisions are not unique to VAR and would have still been an issue without it. VAR had not taken away the decision making process and awarded it to science. If anything, it has exacerbated the problem.
Sunday morning ... still ****ing angry at what we witnessed last night. ****ing bunch of inept, corrupt ****ers.
So even with a second bite of the cherry, you decide to post with grammar which would shame a Lithuanian peasant. Great skills
One other thing that annoyed me last night - the Sky interviewer with Ralph after the game. “On top of that, you seem to have picked up two more injuries that means...” Ralph: “maybe three actually” Sky: ...carries on inane question without asking who the third was.... Anyone know?
This is it in a nutshell, common sense refereeing is being taken out of the game but it is worth remembering that even without VAR those two decisions would've gone against us anyway. How Lee Mason could see that the ball took a slight, if any deflection off of the thigh in real time for the pen is beyond me, it was a howler.
A Sky poll says 81% that the Penalty should have been awarded! However I am reading in the Press that the Penalty was not given because Ings was off side, how come that wasn't mentioned in the Match commentary?
So I woke up this morning to a text from my Villa supporting mate. First thought was, yeah I need you taking the piss right now. Which she did, for a bit. Before telling me she’s been diagnosed with quite a serious illness (nothing to do with Covid). Suddenly there’s a bit of perspective. It’s only a game again. I was even a bit pleased for her that Grealish got an assist for the goal. The twat (him, not her).
No, you misunderstand me, I was saying it will be misinterpreted and misquoted. Im sure the squad know what he meant.
Actually, I believe the free kick was given for Ings being offside in the second phase after the ball was hand balled. It fell to him after and this made him offside. If it had been a penalty, the offside was irrelevant
I thought during the game he was hobbling. Do we think the club needs to start doing things differently? We seem to be suffering an obscene amount of soft tissue injuries. Must be the worst in the league now.
You mention it being cheating and I totally agree. Cash Renton committed a blatant handball above his head and got a yellow. Last night he did the same, stops a potential goal, manages to stay on the pitch and get MOTM (have a word with yourselves Sky) AND guess who the player is ‘in line’ with Ings? Apparently cheats never prosper. Gutting...
