I thin that the financial rewards need to be reconsidered. The European place can be problematic as it means extra fixtures in the following season. I would like to see the FA cup used as a vehicle to more fairly distribute income within football, right from the preliminary rounds.

This season should be more interesting with more "big" cups already being knocked out and Prem teams drawn against each other in the 4th round. Surely this should generate interest ? It just needs a big team to have an off day and a host of unfancied teams could find themselves in the quarter finals.

I still love the cup. I think it has the advantage over the league in that the result is instant. This is much more of a leveller.

If lower level teams like Hull and Leicester have thought about garnering a following in the Far East where the future money "allegedly" is, why shouldn't the FA cup be able to do a similar PA with the world's oldest football competition?

Got a really good feeling about this game. I think we'll ring the changes, but I think Frank will too. Their next league game is at home to Reading, and they cannot afford to drop points in that one.
We've rotated a lot recently, so the majority should have a good level of sharpness. Be great if we can give Gallagher a good run out, see what he can do. He may well be getting game time the way Ings & Austin are dropping out so consistently.
This will be a good week.

(need to let the away tie thread sink away now)

    True(ish)

But the emotional Saint within can't but like an underdog who tries.

It's also the best club cup competition in the world.

Not too many changes please Ralph, even my bias aside there's a great chance to get to the last 16 here and winning is a habit.

I have a bad feeling about this game and think it will be 3.0 to Derby. We have a crap defence, we've lost our best midfielder and have virtually no one up front of any consequence. PS I have noticed that when I am negative about a match we usually get something from it.

I don’t remember him playing that much. Must have not impressed in training as was shipped out as soon as we got promoted.

That was my one and only trip to Elland Road :1980_boogie_down:. When you think of all the stuffings we've had at Leeds I got lucky there. Memorable day out.

There’s a number of reasons. Money, week day night, January (the month of recovering from Xmas) & work.

Here is the team for the first match.

Long was still breathing heavily at the final whistle Saturday( I think we all were), so expect him to make way for Gallagher.

Shame Sims cannot make it, but perhaps Barnes or Johnson might come in for Austin

Armstrong might be played instead of Redmond, but Nathan seems like a fit lad
