I agree with your overall point, but a PL manager should be at the very top of their profession with the money floating around. In theory these should be some of the best managers in the world managing in the "top league" so for them not to be able to convey their ideas across to the team is incredibly poor.

It was reported that Hughes and JWP didn't get on......so I think it's a dig at Hughes.

You're assuming a level of professionalism in the PL that I just don't think is there. Witness the rush by numerous clubs to take on (off the top of my head) Pulis, Hughes (!), Pardew, Warnock, Bruce, etc, all of whom have been repeatedly sacked for poor performance previously. In what other business would that be happening? That's why we end up with idiots.

Football is weird in that owners find themselves employing failed managers who are the right sort of name for the media rather than looking for the correct person and damn the media's take.

It also requires him to know himself what he wants his players to be doing.

I think Puel and Pellegrino both knew what they wanted but struggled to get their ideas across. Hughes always seemed to have a plan, but clearly had no clue how to organise a defence, so we could never defend a lead. Perhaps, being a former striker, he wasn’t interested in defending.

It’s not just football where that happens, tbf. When I was at Royal Mail, the CEO merry go round meant we were saddled with a succession of top bosses who arrived fresh from failures elsewhere (Adam Crozier, the man who arguably ****ed the FA before moving on to RM being a case in point).

Now I work in the Rail industry and am witnessing the same thing there - a CEO gets the sack from one Franchise, and quickly moves on to another. Happens all the time.

Back in the days of Regional Health Authorities, Wessex RHA was under the chairmanship of Sir Robin Buchanan, who had to step down in 1993 when his blundering over computer contracts cost the taxpayers more than £63 million. You will be pleased to know that his career didn’t suffer, Health Secretary Virginia Bottomley extended his contract in his other job for a further 2 years, namely chairman of the NHS Supplies Authority. You couldn’t make it up.

Going by the press conference, there won’t be so many changes for this one. Which will please Ian. Maybe.

Most football managers are failures somewhere down the line, harsh on Pulis... never failed in his remit.

Hopefully not, I really don't want to have something to dislike about Ralph so soon.

Unless his remit was to entertain.

His players always knew what was expected of them though, no argument there.

Yeah I get that but it's harsh to say Pulis has repeatedly under performed.

    Yep.

Allardyce too, always done what he's been hired to do. Plus, he had a 100% record with England.

And he wasn't there long enough to get gravy stains everywhere either. Bonus.

Vin didn't list Sam either tbf to him.

And Ryan's tweet was hardly and endorsement. I think the general consensus from our players is the same.
