Why is Martial staring and Jadon is on the bench?

We better because I will be p!ssed with that team selection. We didn’t start a single player bought in the last two years. They are all sitting on the bench.

Every time we get possession Matic gives it back.

    Ole finally spots it too!

    Beanz won't do any worse.

    Dreadful kit.

Dreadful match. Massive opportunities missed. This is the sort of match that United have to win if they want to be pretenders.

The team selection was fked! Ole was trying to keep players happy instead of playing the absolute best team available at every opportunity to get wins and keep momentum going. Maaan! That is so fked!!!

He’s starting from the bench in a disjointed setup. How can we spend so much money on someone that we are not confident in to start a match? That Martial still gets ahead. We did that with DvB… are we going to do the same with Sancho. No one is ever good enough for Manchester United, I suppose.

Martial didn’t offer much. why change a winning team? In the first half, lots of strolling about. We need to keep going from the start until 3 points are safe. The difference between Martial and a true centre forward like Cavani is massive.

He has no natural drive. He just doesn’t have it. Talent without drive is useless in football

Oh look! Lukaku just scored. He wasn’t good enough for Manchester United. Martial actually was preferred.

This is a spot in analysis by the beeps…

    —->
United grew increasingly sloppy as the game went on, the occasional moments of sparkle from Paul Pogba failing to compensate for the complete lack of inspiration around him.

Martial contributed little or nothing and it was no surprise when was replaced by Sancho, who was quiet as Southampton regained composure and a measure of control after Greenwood's leveller.

Nemanja Matic was ponderous and off the pace while Fred's main contribution was to unwittingly deflect Adams' shot agonisingly out of the reach of De Gea when Saints went in front.

Who knows what goes on behind the scenes but those two performances pose the question of what Donny van de Beek must lack in Solskjaer's eyes to seemingly not even merit serious consideration for a place in United's engine room?

Scott McTominay was left on the bench until late on but when he came on the pattern of the game was set.

It is very early days and United were superb when thrashing Leeds United but this was the sort of careless, lacklustre display they cannot afford to repeat too often in a season that already looks like it will offer little margin for error for those chasing honours at the top of the table.
    ——-

It is still early days, of course. But the more you think Ole is going to lead us to anything meaningful, the more wishful that thought sounds and it pains me to even admit to that. For me, it’s not the draw that annoys me. It’s the team selection. Starting Matic and Martial. Leaving Sancho the bench. Starting Martial as the striker when he’s clearly better on the left if you’re going to play him at all. Still early days but I’m afraid this will be the trend this season. Brilliant one week, lacklustre the next. We won’t win the league doing that.

Yeh agree, Ole now has the players to keep Martial on the left. No need to fck around playing him as the striker at all.

He just ruins my weekend, the fcking idiot (Ole that is in case anyone actually is wondering)

Take a chill pill everyone, matchday two is where we are, and for those who question why Sancho and Varane haven't started, just look at Messi at PSG. Be patient, these are early days, they don't dish out the trophy in August.
