New f2 cars for next year with added halos https://www.motorsport.com/fia-f2/news/new-formula-2-car-cockpit-protection-947258/
Can't imagine they will be much slower than F1 with 620hp! It will probably be quicker than McHonda!!
Blimey , Suaber have some serious backing now . This bloke is co-owner . and is Swedish , as is Ericsson . He is mr Tetra Pak . https://www.howrichest.com/Finn-Rausing-Net-Worth/
Porsche's financial chief has confirmed that the Stuttgart manufacturer is seriously considering a return to Formula 1 as an engine supplier under the proposed 2021 regulations. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/porsche-confirms-formula-1-interest-for-2021-949446/
Hope they do better than last time . Good for the sport though . Now we just need another tyre manufacturer ...
Their last effort was effectively two old 1.5 turbo blocks bolted together to form a V12 with a central power take off. Weighed more than the moon. Presumably their new effort won't be some dusted off TAG engines from the 80's with capacity increased from 1.5 to 1.6 litres!? I would like to see the tyres opened up again to provide real choice, but as seen in the past it means that teams don't get treated equally be the manufacturers which is detrimental to the competitiveness of the grid. If they can ensure a manufacturer does not put their resources into tyres based on just one team's optimum data, then it would work. With the compounds fixed at the start of the season it may work as they can't develop the tyres around a team during the year.
I'm loathe to add another variable into the mix, so for me I would prefer one tyre manufacturer but a free choice of compound.
Yes, that alone would add a decent variable. If each team tells the tyre company which compound they wish to take to each circuit then the correct number can be manufactured in advance, without Pirelli having to take an endless stock to each race. Would in effect work the same now as compounds being told in advance of several races.
