2-1 Sporting. Paulinho. Totally against the run of play. Annoying.

 

Dammit 2-1.

Kiwior and Turner have been ropey today.

 

I know Kiwior is young and he's making his debut in a tough atmosphere away from home against a tricky opponent, but this hasn't been a great showing from the kid.

 

Almost 3-1 Sporting, we look so open at the back.

 

2-2. Xhaka’s shot deflected off Morita and goes in. Own goal. Sporting complaining about a foul in build-up. Not for me.

 

Ooof! Almost 3-2. Fabio Vieira (of all people) with a header that almost goes in, but good save by Adan.

 

Nelson with one of the worst corners I’ve seen in my life.

 

Partey, Gabriel and Smith-Rowe on for Kiwior, Nelson and Jorginho.

 

We’ve looked so much better and in control when the subs have come on, but we’re being very wasteful with our final pass when we get into their box. Annoying.

 

FT. 2-2.

Felt we probably deserved to win it, but we didn't defend well enough at key moments and allowed the game to get too chaotic. We looked weak in defensive transition and the distances in midfield were too big at times for 70 minutes. However, in the final 20 minutes, we totally assumed control and looked like the only team who were going to win.

Difficult evenings for Kiwior and Turner, but they've not been playing, so match rustiness was probably to be expected.

Hopefully, we can see this out at The Emirates and KO them to reach the quarter finals.

 

2-2 Happy with that.
A few dodgy moments but a decent result and we dominated the ball.

Saliba is just a different Class.

Thought Tomiyasu was superb when he came on and ESR is looking like his old self again.

 

Yeah agreed about Tomiyasu. Thought he dealt with the threats of Edwards and St. Juste well, was combative, retained the ball, aggressive in pressing and locked off that left hand side. Good cameo.

Such a shame Martinelli's dazzling run from the halway line didnt end up with a goal, would have been amazing! 2-2 Happy with that considering the squad rotation.
