Yes I should have remembered the shortened name - I have got it on a 12" single same tracks as in your pic but I am sure it was in a bright pink cover, but its not the seen the light of day for 20 odd years so I could be wrong.
One of their last appearances was on tv show, The Oxford Roadshow. Billy wore a floor length coat and a posing pouch. They were a really good band live. There's always rumours of a last tour in the next 12 months...which never materialises I'd definitely go and watch them again if they play in London or at Rebellion.
Does anyone like this kind of pop punk or Ramonescore or whatever.....or am I ploughing a lone furrow?
The Stranglers have announced a farewell tour. Standing tickets at Brixton Academy are £86....Eighty Six ****ing Quid! I'd have gone to say goodbye but there's no ****ing way I'm paying £86 and they're taking the ****ing piss out of their fans. ****ing Boooooo!
Keep putting them up and be please log in to view this image It's what I do.... Pearls before swine...
I have to admit I gave a snort of derision when I first heard the Damned had covered this but it is very good version I loved this song from when I first heard it and was convinced that it was the Moody Blues then I heard it in my local record shop and asked for the moody blues album that was playing only to be amazed that it was Love, had to buy a copy on CD as I've worn the vynyl out
Thats ridiculous - their tickets have always been excellent value in the past, but like you I won't be going this time at those prices
Seen the stranglers many times over the years but I wouldn't pay that to see em that's takin the piss
There's a huge love for top 60's rock and psychedelia in the band. Before this cover, they did 'Looking at You', 'White Rabbit' and 'Citadel' and when the band was inactive in '84, they did this... I'd never say that their versions were better, but they always brought something to them, particularly Rat's drumming, which I still miss.
By contrast with £86 for a Stranglers gig, here's a good night out for £35... please log in to view this image The Lords with Michael Monroe should pull a decent crowd (and Terry Chimes behind the kit). Brian James is always worth hearing and you get 2 sets and there's still 3 more bands and the headliner to announce. Who could ask for more? Having it on a school night and 5 hours standing....that's a little less appealing but WTF?
No football of any interest to me and England rugby later so I've dug out my Talk Talk vynyl, that and a good bottle of Merlot has the making of a mellow afternoon, how I miss Mark Hollis Colour of spring ,spirit of eden and natural history show mark at his best , cheers
Just booked tickets for the Vive Le Rock night...having seen Captain Sensible tweeting, encouraging purchase... The Damned are a fair bet to win the live award for The Palladium gig, so someone from the band will be there...and Brian's on the line-up...so 2+2 = unscripted Damned original line-up performance... Maybe....I just can't risk missing the possibility. I know....it's like the 'Bale returns to Spurs' saga all over again...but Joe and Mick played that night, so it's still possible...just. Maybe...?
Rezillos and The Members at 229 Great Portland Street on Sat 22 Feb. Tickets £22 inc. booking fee. Sounds hard to refuse...
This will be my next show - in August. Kate Bush tribute band (so good!) Cloudbusting. Playing in Canterbury
Wow! You people are from another world. I was into the likes of Aram Khatchachurian,Ripsyacorsetsoff etc. I definitely got on the wrong bus!!!!? But,then, I was just a young lad from Tottenham......spending a lot of time at the Albert Hall.
