Thanks SpursDisciple, I can't like this enough. I ****ING LOVED X-Ray Spex then and I still do today.

She was a sensational talent. Nobody before or since sounded anything like her or her band. As the advert says, even today, everybody else is still playing catch up with her writing and performing. For me, her stuff stands alongside The Pistols, Clash, Damned at the very top of what punk offered and was more inventive than any of those bands.

I saw them a few times and me and Mrs B saw them play their last live gig. The place was packed full of faces from '76 wanting to be part of that for one last time. I wish that there had been more, as she was loving doing it but the memories will have to be enough.

The lyrics of that album, and Kaya, saved my life.

e.g. No sun will shine in my day today
The high yellow moon, won't come out to play.

When you are down, depressed, you need to share those feelings.

    News on the grapevine....

The UK version of Punk supergroup, Dead Men Walking, are rehearsing...

I'd turn up to watch Seggs and Ruffy play on their own...chuck in Jake Burns and Kirk Brandon....and that's a good night out.

I have a rule about Van Morrison albums, most of his output up to 1979 is imo very good after that be careful about spending your pennies , I think the track list of his latest work proves my point , the man has gone batsuit crazy

Was on last Saturday. Great versions of 'To Be Someone', 'Little Boy Soldiers', 'Thick as Thieves' and 'Private Hell'

The boys were putting it all in...to an audience of Germans, who largely just stood there and a few called out for Eton Rifles throughout.

As good as any band is, it's up to the crowd to make it really special.

I've got 1 of pretty much everything The Damned put out up until the break-up in '88...plus the odd additional 12", 10", coloured vinyl, picture disc or import but I don't think that I've got more than 3 of anything...apart from t shirts...<laugh>

I've seen collectors with 20+ versions of Smash It Up, desperately looking for the missing Paraguayan pressing. Even I'm out at that point.

I've just found out that the Poly Styrene film isn't close to being the end of tonight's delights. Also showing is White Riot, the film about the RAR gig in Victoria Park,
a film about the Pistols reforming in 2007....and in the prime spot, at 2.05 in the morning....

    You lucky people!

I had my COVID-19 jab(AZ) yesterday and woke very early feeling rough as a badgers arse , went down stairs and made tea and settled down to watch the Ipcress File , what a film, London early 60s not the Austin powers or James Bond London, dim grim bedsits and broken London, great film that catches the era of London post war before the lights were turned on and the corrugated metal pulled down . Harry Palmer one of my literary favourites, working class boy working with the public school civil servants, just love the secretary with the fag on all the time , going to seek out Funeral in Berlin and move on to something stronger to fight this temp before tonight's game COYS

Are you delirious enough to brave 'Million Dollar Brain'?

I hadn't seen it in years, so during Lockdown No1, I bought it...and it'll be a while until it sees the light of day again!

I'm getting jabbed on Wednesday...maybe Italian Job, Alfie and Zulu as a triple bill?

I'm waiting before I take the jab, so it's good to get reports from you guys. As I had the COVID pretty bad and produced so many antibodies they started attacking my blood, i don't particularly want something that will generate more antibodies. All I want are the swimming pools open. Diet starts tomorrow but difficult with diabetes. Half a litre of gin friday night and I am still fekked now.
