have just watched a documentary called feel the noise on Britbox which is subtitled the music that shaped Britain. Now I know that I am extremely biased but genuinely don't now you make a programme about British since the sixties and manage to avoid not only Weller, but also Pete Townshend, Ray Davies and Steve Marriott, as well not mentioning any heavy rock, reggae, electronica or disco. I know that you cant mention everything but to limit it to Cliff, The Beatles, Bolan, Bowie, Slade, the Pistols, The Undertones (joyfully), Two Tone, Joy Division, Spandau Ballet, The Smiths, The Stones Rose, Happy Mondays, Oasis, Blur and The Spice Girls maybe the subject was too big for a 90 minute programme.
The perfect post for this thread - music meets football This is taken from the new Stranglers album which also includes the exceptional If You Should See Dave. It will be the last album that will feature their late keyboard player Dave Greenfield and as such it really does mark the end of an era. Its very good too.
I've just found out that Robert Elms has been binned from his weekday morning shows , yes he was at times a pompous twat but the knowledge and diversity on the show was the one thing to keep me sane while I drove round London and the south east , he introduced me to so many new bands and informed me of many things and place in London a place I thought I knew so well , he now has a morning show Friday Saturday and Sunday He was replaced by Eddie Nestor who sounded like he needed to go back to bed , looks like CDs and podcasts for me from now on , BBC you have made a massive **** up
I've done my back working on a swimming pool in Spain. So, I've got some time to find stuff like this for you good people......from the Stone Valley South Festival... Sham 69 were at the outside edges of my tastes but, surprise, surprise...Mrs B loved them. So, it's off to the wonderful New Cross Inn on Saturday 13 Nov, for another fix. £11 to get in (plus £1) booking and proper beer/cider. It's a bargain.
Richard Kirk, of Cabaret Voltaire, has departed us. Very influential group in electronic music, with a harsh industrial sound. I will start with my all-time favourite (which I managed to spread amongst fellow Electro heads back in 1985 - due to its kindred drum tracks and loops) : Their anthem : My favourites from the Virgin era (more commercial - I hope they got some decent revenues from that time) :
