The club confirms that Kane sustained "significant ligament damage" and will undergo "further examinations". Not a chance we'll see him again this season unless we reach the CL final. Dele fractured his hand and "will be assessed ahead of the Huddersfield match" but a paramedic mate of mine reckons it isn't too serious and he'll be able to play with it in a cast.
You should be heartened by how you played once Kane went off. Son suddenly became a different player. That bodes well for the run in.
I actually think Poch will learn that he has two set ups. One where Kane bosses. One where Sonny bosses. At the moment , I like the one where Sonny bosses.
When HK suffered his last ankle injury, I said that there's a likelihood that he'd have a weakness in his ligaments now. A mate of mine does. Here an article about a surgeon who has operated on a number of PL footballers, he suggests surgery to tighten the ligaments... https://www.afp.com/en/news/3955/kane-may-have-consider-surgery-says-surgeon-doc-1fl2s64 He'd be wise to consider it this summer, rather than attempting to rush back again too quickly and suffer poor form in the summer international tournament. Get it right now.
Pochettino needs to get the Narrative (TM) out there on Southgate (what kind of England manager would risk the long term future health of a player who made them look good at a WC, in a nothing competition, the summer after a season in which said player has had little rest and two nasty injuries) .
A bit like a weld. A good weld can be almost as strong as the parent material, a poor weld will never get stronger however long you leave it. Surely someone has come up with something like a carbon fibre sleeve that could be fixed to the ligament and make it thousands of times stronger than the original. I have a lump of steel holding my ankle together.
Kane would be really stupid if he tries rushing back again . I appreciate his hunger and desire to play but this is a situation where he has to think for the long haul and not just the immediate future. Recover, rest, have surgery if need be and then come back fully fit and ready for pre-season ready to reclaim his golden boot and hopefully steer us to some form of glory.
At a guess that's probably not going to be an issue, because by the looks of things he'll have an enforced rest until pre-season training begins ...unless Gareth Southgate wants to continue his policy of running our players into the ground while letting other clubs pull their players from the England team for increasingly spurious reasons In other news...
