Pochettino has allegedly said today that the medical scan results for Toby means an estimated return date of February.
On a positive note Wanyama trained with the squad today http://www.skysports.com/football/n...ning-as-he-steps-up-recovery-from-knee-injury
Not much of a positive note, more that he is returning on schedule. Even less of a positive note is how Lyall Thomas thinks we beat Burnley. Sorry if I'm snapping, still angry that Toby picked up this injury so needlessly.
No worries fella. Toby's understandably a big miss but the big man in midfield on the way back has to be something to be pleased about. Having said that, Poch's recent dialogue has been interesting. He's clearly sending messages to the top dog that these last minute transfers have to stop and we need reinforcements in January. Seems to me the manager realises just how important it is that we do not fall away and maintain the momentum we've built these past few years. Personally, I think it's bloody critical. We really are at a crossroads this season in so many ways.
Kane injury said to be "April" at the minimum. That aside, is he too brave for his own good ?? For example, would forwards at the usual suspects have gone in for that attempt at goal given there was a chance they would get similarly clattered ?? Or are they powder puffs ??
Mauricio pochettino speaking today... "We want to help him [HK] recover as soon as possible from his injury, that's the first step, to be fully recovered from the injury. Then we will see, it's two or three weeks, we don't know. We need to assess every day." That sounds a bit more like it. Hopefully, it's a 2 week job and he's back for Chelsea. Knowing our recent record with injuries, he'll have the leg off just before Christmas.
Pochettino also commenting as I did that Kane may be much braver than other players when it comes to putting yourself on the line to try and score.
I'm much more at ease at the thought of playing without Kane than I was last season. For one reason: Lamela. He allows Son to play with true freedom and also compensates for much of the graft and creativity that Kane brings to the table. We sorely lacked that last season. I'd even be confident facing Chelsea without him. Son is on fire at the moment and as long as he doesn't have one of 'those' days his pace and stamina should cause their leaky defence no end of problems.
I said something similar on another thread. I'd actually like to see 3 of Moura, Eriksen, Lamella and Son behind Dele. I don't think Son should be the one up front as he hasn't the build to hold the ball up or the height whereas Dele has and he can be a handful if he stays on his feet.
I'm surprised nobody's brought up the last time one of our players was that brave when looking to score: Ryan Mason against Sunderland a couple of seasons back.
Toby played 90 mins for Belgium yesterday. With 3 clashes in April with other PL top 5 clubs, it will be interesting whether Pochettino is now in Walker mode over the contract stuff.
Let's be honest, there were plenty of people demand he be rushed back into the team before, yet his abject performance against Rochdale showed he was clearly lacking fitness at the time and Poch was right to keep him on the sidelines.
It should be said that Walker played quite a few at the end of last season. Trippier and Walker were rotated, although Trippier got the bigger games.
Possible that if fitness is still an issue, Spurs had a play one game only deal with Belgium, akin to what was allegedly agreed with Kenya for Wanyama.
