Welcome back, fellow optimists (and RCL)! To get us back on the road, here’s a C&W classic, The Streets of Laredo (aka The Cowboy’s Lament).

Watching Mourinho

As I sat down I was watching Mourinho,
As I was watching Mourinho one day,
I spied a young Spurs team all wearing their white shirts,
All wearing their white shirts and raring to play.

Oh we might start slowly and pass to our goalie,
Play from the back, even though it takes long:
But one goal from Harry and then from Lamela -
I'm an old Spurs fan, and I’m singing their song!

“I see by their outfits that they are all Spurs men,”
These words I did say with a tear in my eye!
“There’s no-one to hear me – but this game is special!
We need the three points or our season will die!”

First it was Hugo and then it was Harry,
Then came Steve Bergwijn, and young Heung Min Son!
With all of these injured, the back four went AWOL -
I never knew matches could go quite so wrong!

It was once in the Paxton I used to be sitting,
Once we had matches in April and May.
Then came the lockdown – no footie for three months -
But we play against Man United today!

Get all the Shelf Side to crowd round the telly!
Get all the Park Lane to sing us a song!
Injuries over, they’re raring to go now -
For Jose and Spurs fans have waited so long!

Saturday morning pictures, eh! The queue would stretch from the Odeon up past my gate when there was a good film on! (as my next door neighbour once exclaimed: " 'Ere, Doreen! Come and look at vis! Kids!!! Farsands of 'em!!!!!!") I have a feeling Smiffy might join in on this conversation now!
I'll confess: I've used the lockdown to start letting my locks down - I've begun trying to get my old ponytail back. We'll have to see how long it can get this time!

 

No, she's not hiding just law abiding! She can't wait to get going again, must be costing her a packet! I'll probably have a ponytail soon too
