I think this is overplayed these days. They have been here ten years this year. They’ve dealt with numerous managers Overseen the academy go from a ramshackle ****hole on county rd to what it is now. Attended loads of league meetings and met with numerous other chair men and managers.
If they knew anything about football McCann would have been sacked after the Barnsley game or sooner. They are the ones that reckon they are £50 mil down (I dont believe that either)
Isn't this where football managers take the team to a local hospice, an army assault course, on the bin lorries or summat to shock the molly coddled ****s into the real life and 'stop feeling sorry for themselves'? Ant Middleton for manager if you ask me.
Yes, and they have clearly learnt well. Their 'philosophy' for the club is working wonders. On and off the pitch. As the saying goes, a little knowledge is dangerous. When mixed with arrogance, stupidity, revenge, stubbornness, and the like it's way more than dangerous. They are now close to destroying 'our' club but remain convinced only they know best. They clearly know next to **** all and would be best served (from the start and still now) in letting someone who knows football run it for them. Unfortunately that just isn't in their DNA, the deluded ****s.
I can only give them credit for their financial prudence in ensuring the club remains sustainable, downside being their complete lack of football knowledge reflected in the shambles currently being served up on the pitch. I'll also give them some credit for the improvements in the academy, but again after 3 seasons premier league money, where is the investment in our own training facilities and building a true asset in more ways than one. The fact we are still based at the college, and have not invested in securing our own facility is disgraceful. If that's the sum total of their achievements after c10 years in charge, then they've got a hell of a lot wrong. We should be a stronger club financially and asset wise from when they arrived, yet at the reported c£50m debt we are c£30m worse off in money terms, and in almost every other way both on and off the pitch. Best run club my arse!
Agree with a lot of that. But even with the financial prudence / sustainability, have they really done a good job? They've managed to turn c. £30 mill debt into c. £50 mill debt (I know, I don't believe that figure, but they maintain that is still what is owed in spite of sales). The club is now losing money, and is on the verge of losing significant money going forward, and is reliant on unearthing future Bowens. Gates, & related income I would guess, are something like halved since taking over (c. 12 to 14k's and a LOT of remaining good will in the area, to an honest figure of c. 7-8k and falling with very little remaining good will). Precarious I would say. I like what you say about the academy. Credit in some ways, but a disgrace in other ways, given the seasons we've had in the PL and the parachute money received.
Yes because so many clubs who have a season or two in the pl have doneso well afterwards haven’t they? Qpr Wigan, boro reading endless list of teams that have done so well
Every single game is difficult at the moment, with the players we have available then we have to find a way to keep a clean sheet then we don't lose. Something has to change to do that because at the moment we simply cant. He can't change the players that much because of the injury situation so has to change something in the way we play. If I see stoke get no goals i will be very happy with that but like most am not overly confident. Come on City get us a point at least and I will be happy with that.
How should we be a stronger club financially and asset wise? None of those clubs you don’t want to talk about are. it’s far too easy for the experts on here to say Shoulda down this shoulda done that Swansea had ten years nearly of pl football never bought their ground. I heard ehab really rated Sam clucas so maybe he knows more about football than you??
So team selection then 3-5-2 Long Pennington mcloughlin elder McKenzie. Kingsley Stewart batty. Lopes Balogh. Samuelson feel free to have a go.
Swansea not a great benchmark to use, they own their own academy having invested c£8.5m. Who's claiming to know more about football than others, not me. Continue being predictable as ever
Damn, agree. Not at all sure yet about Balogh, but Magennis hadnt done enough so time to see what Nobby can do.
