Nothing wrong with the sheep dude they just dont use thy brains like the farmer and his dog does.....sheep trust in the process without them fully understanding the outcome being detrimental to their way of life
****ing years since i heard that, lent a lad 6 Floyd LPs back in the day and never saw him or them again
Without people like him what do you get ? How many bosses throughout history would have given people the holiday entitlements ? The maternity ? Etc . For god's sake we've only had the situation where companies have to give 20 days as well as 8 bank holidays for a decade and a half otherwise we'd be like America where people are made to believe they are shirkers if they take more than 7 days holiday a year . That attitude can only be pushed by the superich .
Not sure what that has got to do with anything that I said tbph. You didn't respond to what I said other than 'without people like him' then went off on a tangent. Personally me, I've always had more than 20 days holiday add to that a further 8 bank holidays, I thought that was a minimum anyway. We are nothing like America, but did you complain when Eastern European drivers were coming over here and doing the job for peanuts, because the British public, along with all government parties and the EU overlooked it. How do you think we were getting our produce so cheap, by paying poor wages. Then farmers exploited by getting rid of all their British labour and again bringing over cheaper Eastern Europeans and throwing in some accomodation, that was the farmers that hadn't sold their land off for housing, because we could do things like mass produce grain in the Ukraine and bring it over cheaper or whatever other scenario you want to throw in. I used to know loads of British workers in the fields, I know non whatsoever now - that wasn't because they were lazy, that was because farmers got greedy. Now the complete culture has changed and somehow that's the fault of British workers. We've overlooked 50 years of exploitation for convenience, choice and price.
From 1982 to 85 I got 13 days plus 7 bank holidays . I was told that we had to work Good Friday as it wasn't classed as a public so we where told . That included working Saturday at single pay . My next job until 1990 was 15 days Holiday . I then went to work on site for a couple of decades and nobody would take you on the books so there was no payed holidays . I never earned time and a half and double time until 2011 . Call it a tangent if you want but I agree with everything that Mick Lynch says . Our company owner who sold the company a few months ago spun us bullshit for a few years . What we have found out since he left is ****ing sickening . ****ing lying swindling bastard . **** the Gaffers they don't have an ounce if sympathy from me .
Well there you are then, no good moaning about exploitation. I read an article in a Kent rag a few weeks back, about farmer complaining he couldn't get British labour now we have finished exploiting Eastern Europeans, so I googled the farmers name and looked up any jobs he had advertised - they were a minimum of 6 days a week, absolutely ridiculous hours, and make sure you have a strong back, on top of that there was other requirements, where was the Unions for them, selective exploitation until it suits is what I see.
You follow Mick Lynch then mate, it don't bother me in the slightest. People have been exploited for a very long time and not just by the British government, but we never used to mention it, just kept all hush hush over it, because it kept prices down. Accomodation, there's a shed mate, can you start picking as soon as day breaks, and if you are a good lad, we will give you Sunday off.
What you are describing is capitalism at its height . That is the opposite to what Lynch is trying to do . I'm actually not seeing your point here . You don't believe in unions but have just pointed out a valid point to protect workers .
Absolutely agree its a valid point to protect workers, my point was we overlooked it for decades for convenience and price. It's like someone telling me they cared for Chinese cockle pickers. I'm not having a go at you mate, I just think we have completely different views on how we got to this point.
We've got to this point mate and it started back in 2010 or even 2008. We where told that everybody was in it together . The average wage is barely above what it was then . God knows what would have happened without the social charter . In the meantime company bosses City workers and financial workers plus property developers have got even more rich . A lot of this happened whilst public sector and plenty of other workers have gone backwards . How even when you have 2% inflation and get a pay freeze or maybe 1% rise can you square the circle long term . It's eroding differentials. Then when people want a wage rise to combat inflation you get people comparing a railwirker to a butcher and saying well they earn more than a butcher . Well here's a novel idea . Let's compare them to a Highly paid CEO at Birmingham airport or a City banker Short selling a stock to make an instant profit .
I'm not disagreeing with you mate. I've not the solution to the problem, the hole was long dug, if people want to start mass picketing to sort it out, good luck to them, just count me out. First place I suggest they start is Keir Starmer because I'm pretty sure your Mick Lynch don't think he's the right man for the job, but I been telling peeps that for ages. Thing is it will be like changing the tide with Labour, I just can't see it happening or being accepted. Even if it is can Mick Lynch persuade people to move away from the centre left of politics, well I knnow I won't be holding my breath, but life is full of surprises and I know my mate Archers would be a very happy man.
I'm not sure Starmer is the right person . I'd be quite happy to see a hung parliament to be honest . Pretty certain ( apart from the financial disconnect and inflation ) that the Current PM us just as big a driver of this groundswell . It will only get worse in the short-term . Pretty certain this is standard practice in France
Yeah I would like em but they just a cover band so ok for a sing song but wouldn't have the depth of emotion watching em for me. They are one of the better bands covering the floyd mind
