Cloud over every thing like this now Good job mo farah is Team GB with the **** swirling around him now Not that you’ll see much reporting of it
The Kenyan athletes are riddled with drugs to the same extent some Russians are https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...igures-on-participation-numbers-idUSKCN1U72HB
So having a pacemaker ruled you out of breaking the record? Bonkers, he did the full run in a record time. Guess Roger Bannister didn’t break the 4 minute mile record then as he had Christopher Brasher, I think, as a pacemaker.
It is an amazing feat of running but - it really was 'contrived' beyond belief; he was the only contestant in the run, surrounded at all times by 7 pacemakers who were assembled in aerodynamic formation (40 odd in all), they were all following an electric car set to complete the course in 1 hr 59 mins 50 secs (the car was also another wind blocker); his drinks etc were brought to him so he didn't have to veer off the perfect line - a line generated by lasers from the pace car showing grids on the road no less. There were other assists too. It's a great feat of running, way too contrived for me though.
The **** did it with a pacemaker? FFS cut him some slack. That's some achievement post heart surgery.
I wouldn't be surprised if those at the top of world athletics kicked this into touch...Hardly race conditions, a flat, circuit course with banking and a team of pace makers. Me thinks that the Seb Coe's of this world are bound to throw it out.
He knew before the race that this wouldn’t be recognised as a new world record, that wasn’t his aim, he wanted to prove it was possible for a marathon to be run in less than two hours. Official or not, he’ll still be remember as the first man to achieve it.
Seb Coe is part of the gravy train that took the recent athletics championships to Doha and is also slack on the fight against drug cheats in Athletics.
Finally seen a full news report about this (& impressive) Excellent PR for Inneos - should this be in climate strike thread?
News not seen on SKY or BBC. UKDA (Britains anti doping organisation) is refusing to hand over Mo Farah's test samples to WADA the world anti doping organisation.
