Here’s a super geeky piece on the best DM players in the Dutch league too. https://breakingthelines.com/scouting-report/the-best-u-21-defensive-midfielders-in-eredivisie/
He reminds me of Schneiderlin, with the added bonus of that left foot. Almost certain he won't come to us now cos he looks like a perfect fit
In true Saints fan style, I now want him to join more than I’ve ever wanted anyone, and if he doesn’t it’ll be an unmitigated disaster.
Weston McKennie sounded like he'd been named by wombles with an atlas and a pin so I wasn't bothered when he went elsewhere for too much money but I am genuinely excited by this current, tenuous link...
Not just the video. He’s been tipped as a long term replacement for Matic but hey, he could do with 2 years here just to acclimatise you the Premier League!
Just to add some fuel, LeG on SW is wondering whether Hoedt might be part of a possible Koopmeiners deal.
Koopermeiners for a little bit of money and Hoedt?!!... "Would you like to spend the night with my beautiful bikini-model girlfriend? And I'll take your boiler of a wife out to dinner to distract her for the evening. There's a catch though - you're paying for the restaurant!!" "Here's my credit card." You've got to love the Dutch.
The one thing to consider is that Koop's guady goal totals are almost all pens. A freakish number of pens. Not saying that he isn't worth going for, he's just not quite the prolific midfield goalscorer that his numbers suggest.
Get ready for that to get worse. Arsenal are looking to go down the same route in terms of agents driving their recruitment. There will be others who follow too. I see it from the club’s side, where you probably encounter less competition for certain players, fees will be driven down and it’s easier to do deals with your pet agent. There’s no way it doesn’t look shady though. It’s just handing additional power to agents who already have too much sway and of course it’s going to be abused. It’s the low value transfers to watch for that.
He’s a DM/CB so not being looked at for his goals. It’s his tackling and range of passing where he excels.
Sure. But I figured that was worth mentioning before someone saw that he'd scored over 20 goals in two years and concluded that he scores for fun.
