I’m not even joking when I say they could have just given £17m to a random lads WhatsApp group and they could have produced a better player for Saints than Carrillo.
Well, he would otherwise the whole discussion would be rendered useless. Hes got a new club lined up so its obviously been spoken about and agreed to.
Probably done a small deal as he would then get a bigger signing on fee with a new club as they would be paying no loan / transfer fee. Think he would have been due about £2 million in wages on his contract if ran until the end of June next year, so probably saved the club a bit of money as no club willing to pay a loan fee for him??
Probably saved a small portion of that. I'd expect we were paying him more like £3m/year than £2m (the latter would be 40k p/w). I'd be surprised if Elche was paying him even 20% of what we were, though.
The club really squandered the VVD windfall spectacularly didn't it?, that money should've made us regular Euro contenders.. Les Reed went to Europe in a Triumph Dolomite and blew a cool £100m on a complete bag o' ****e!
I remember a manager saying that unhappy players take up more of your time than happy ones. Better for all concerned that players are moved on even if it costs.
Can't help but feel this is a really good signing... It also means Villa cannot loan Loftus-Cheek, and with Chelsea keen to still loan him out, we could pick him up.
