Can't be bothered to read back through how this little spat started, I presume someone called someone else a yanker ?
I’m just pleased that “Harry Reed can replace PEH” is no longer the spiciest take on the transfer thread. Not much on Ntcham since those early links but I’ve seen he was dropped to the bench for a few of their recent games and Chris Sutton has said he’s too important for them to sell. I think he’s quite good and the price would be very low compared to the other players we’re getting linked with. He’s an exciting player to watch. Plus, it’s ****ing Celtic so there may as well be a tunnel from us to them.
Southampton have revived their interest in Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham, but Everton and West Ham are also interested in the 24-year-old Frenchman. (90Min)
Villa want Obafemi for £10m https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/12412938/aston-villa-southampton-michael-obafemi/
Tbh I dont think he will make it here so that is tempting - we would need to replace him though and CM & CB are more important. Also - can we have a forum rule where we don't post links to The Sun?
I agree I also hate the Sun paper, however when it comes to saints they are more right than wrong on saints news.
I swear he doesn't even start for Celtic though? Also, that article says £20m and he is in his final year of contract, seems ridiculous money to me. I'd rather spend that on someone better than one of Celtics subs.
Yeah, it is really odd that fans seem to be happy that LD have pulled out. I know we will be able to find another sponsor willing to pay similar to £7.5m a season, but these things take time and until we have one signed we have a £15m hole in our budget. This will more than likely delay our transfer dealings.
Plus money refunded to supporters and less shirt sale money coming in. Still, I'm pleased to not be associated with them anymore and part of me is glad that such a dodgy move has backfired on Gao if I'm completely honest. Fwiw though I don't think we'll get a similar amount. Maybe 3/4 million a season. Though I always had doubts that they ever had / were going to have the £22.5m anyway.
Sheffield United pay £18.5 million for Ramsdale...,a player they sold to Bournemouth for 1 mill in 2017
In this suppressed COVID market, we may struggle to find someone willing to cough up close to what we had with the fictional LD Sports... I can see LD having to cough up for new shirts for all those with proof of purchase; while expensive for them, about half a million in new shirts at cost price from Under Armour would be cheaper than the £7.5 million they did owe us. Could see us having a charity one if we struggle to get a sponsor quickly.
Im not convinced they’ve “pulled out” ... get the feeling there’s some wheels seriously spinning backwards on that and trying to tidy up a naughty little mess before it leaves a stain.
@Welsh Saint just posted an interesting article on Saints stuff. Think it makes a good point that a break clause would surely not be able to be activated this late in the summer after we've mass produced shirts etc.
Unless the company has a base and assets here (they haven’t) a Chinese company can virtually do what it likes. Certainly not worth saints pursuing a court enforcement.
