My God some of those pitches. Scored a lot of different kinds of goals but what’s more apparent in this video is his ability to hold the ball up with various amounts of strength and dribbling at speed before getting fouled if there’s nothing on. He’s young and affordable so I wouldn’t say no. It’s probably the most plausible of the rumours so far!
He doesnt seem to ever have the ball under control at any point Be nice to have someone who can head the ball in the box as well.
Southampton are ready to make a fresh bid to sign Everton midfielder Tom Davies after failing to sign the 22-year-old Englishman last year. (Football Insider)
As a loan, I wouldn't be interested. I'd see it as a bit of a waste of our two PL loanee slots. But as a permanent transfer, I'd be happy with it (price dependant). We do need a 4th CM - unless we decide to re-integrate Lemina into the squad - and he would come with PL experience.
He’s linked with lots of bigger teams too. The only way we get him is if, like Mane, other teams decide he’s too great a risk at his price. I’m not convinced we can afford him though.
Can't wait for the stat, Ryan Bertrand completes a cross into the box for the first time since 2020. ps. I really rate Ryan but it would have been nice to see him playing right to the end of his contract.
Haven't seen anyone mention this link to Adam Armstrong. Don't get Championship games over here so know nothing about him but the scoring record is nothing to be sniffed at. warning - daily express link : ) https://www.express.co.uk/sport/foo...nship-Blackburn-Adam-Armstrong-Premier-League
Highest goals per game ratio in the Championship this season, above even overall top-scorer Toney, whilst playing for a team that finished bottom half. Also leads the charts in shots taken, shots on target, shots per game and so on. Toney has been priced at around 35m, while Blackburn are asking only 16-20m for Armstrong.
I ran through his numbers earlier in the thread. He's a really, really odd duck: he shoots from just about everywhere on the pitch except for within the six-yard box, resulting in a genuinely awful shot conversion rate for a striker. But he scored a lot of goals because he generates an insane number of shots. I'm really unsure that would work for a lower-half side in the PL, where you'd generally rather have someone who can finish chances, because you aren't going to get an enormous number of them. Perhaps he's so good at working space that he can greatly increase the number of shots his team manages, but it's probably more likely that he'd be infuriating to watch. He's certainly a unique player though...Whoscored's player stats only go back as far as the 2013-14 season, but in that time no player in the Championship had more than 3.9 shots/game, and Armstrong managed 4.7. In other words, he generated a full 20% more shots per match than anyone else, which is some form of remarkable.
I remember your previous comment and it's a good way of looking at it. If you have more shots, you'll score more goals (usually), so his impressive goal record probably is due to how often he shoots rather than how good a finisher he is. That said, he's only 24 and has lots of time to improve. I wouldn't be against the signing.
