I think @Dick Plumb1 pointed out earlier we've got 12 players in our squad right now. That's a pretty light subs' bench.
These were my three most common positions back at the old grey school; Left back Left wing Left out I couldn't cross a ball if my life depended on it, and I had less coordination in front of goal than a 30 seconds old Wildebeest. My only talent was the ability to nick the ball off an opposition runner without him realising it was even gone. Once I had it though, couldn't do bugger all with it
So much for Adkins' claim that all the players want to sign up. Aneke going to a Championship club, fair enough, but losing Amos to Wigan bothers me. Whatever Ged Roddy is up to, there is the smell of something not quite right in my nostrils.
The way things are going we're unlikely to sign a better goalie than Amos, so looking to the future, I'd say give AM-B the gloves now, tell him he starts the season as No. 1.
According to Cawley Wigan are paying large wages. Also Amos has had a house built in Greater Manchester so it was a no brainier for him.
Presumably he got this info from Charlton. Considering their recent history I am a teeny bit sceptical about Wigan paying large wages. This is L1.
If you look at the players Wigan have brought in they must be offering larger wages than a lot of other League one clubs.
I doubt if the board at Wigan care much about running the Club responsibly or making ends meet. They probably take the view that they can go out on a limb to get back to the 2nd tier, then duck & dive their way out of trouble later. The utter incompetence of the EFL only encourages such views.
Amos has been a good club man. Accepted Dillon as first choice and earned the right to the gloves with his performances last season. Good luck to him.
Back where he belongs or still one level above his mark ? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57623969
