Not sure I'm enthralled by this statement. It is understood McCarthy is happy with the four midfield options he has at his disposal in Joe Ralls, Will Vaulks, Leandro Bacuna and Marlon Pack and it would make the balance rather lopsided if another body was thrown into the mix.
I thought the same Remote. Of course his view might change if any of them leave. Also he is referring to defensive midfield and there should be scope to look at attacking options with Wilson and Ojo unlikely to return and he can't rely on Sang and Colwill for a whole season. Unless he expects Tomlin to return trim, fit and able to perform for a whole season.
Handy for changing bulbs in the floodlights. We wouldn't need to play the ball on the ground. Or perhaps they are recruiting for the basketball team.
That is so disheartening - he’s deluded if he really thinks that quartet is good enough. Incidentally anyone recall the saga of Lenny Lawrence’s lopsided midfield- can’t recall the personnel involved but he went on and on about it!
Midfielder................. https://www.footballinsider247.com/cardiff-city-in-advanced-talks-to-sign-crewe-midfielder-wintle/
Looks promising. The Ng effect maybe? However, contrary to MM's recent comments, he appears to be a defensive midfielder who can also play at cb, so ticks a couple of boxes, is the right age and on a free as out of contract. Should he sign then at least one of the gang of four will be going. Of the four, Vaulks is the one I would keep unless someone offers the £7m or similar mentioned a few weeks ago. I would happily take £5m. If not Vaulks then who would be the favourite to depart? Preferably one we could get money for. Pack looks like a MM favourite, and he can play cb in a back 5, so Ralls or Bacuna? Bye bye Bacuna for me. P.S. Do Crewe have anymore who can do well for us?
Still find it strange that we're only linked with out of contract players. Collins, Waghorn, Matty James and now this guy Wintle - makes you think we can't actually buy yet for some reason......
Hmmmmm. For every question there's a problem to be answered. Song and band please. Google not allowed.

Nobody will pay his wages. He got a 4 year contract at PL wages[/QUOTE] Good point Ninian. He signed a 4 1/2 year deal in January 2019 so we've got him for another 2 years.
Ralls signed a new deal in 2020. Can't see any more details but guessing 3 years so still 2 to go. Pack and Vaulks both have a year to go so that again suggests Vaulks might be the one to leave to get some cash back for him. Wages probably not too high either.
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...f-city-transfers-bluebirds-newcastle-20830831 He’s only 23 - seems to have been around for ages. Read on and Bristol seem to have got Matty James who apparently we were interested in. Plus it’s reportedly inevitable Keiffer won’t be with us next season.
Unless of course we get £20 million for Kieffer and bring in the 6'9" non-league guy as his replacement
The more I see us linked with strikers the more resigned I am to him going. And wouldnt blame Tan if he hung on to the cash given the losses last year. Still think it'll be frees and the odd sub £1M signing as our fayre this summer. And to be honest, I'm ok with that given the climate. Given some that have left, our wage bill should be more sustainable.
