We can confirm that in line with Welsh Government approvals, the Club will be operating at alert level zero. Supporters attending games will routinely be sat without social distancing measures in place, and while we recommend face masks to be worn, this is not compulsory except when entering the Ticket Office, Superstore or queuing at internal kiosks and toilets. I hope my season ticket comes before Saturday.
Dai - I believe there is some malarkey about a email link with downloadable ticket been sent out for the opener (not sure if this is just for existing ST holders) https://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/new...Kt85PlkWT5nmVf_Z6PQie16d6NW5Hy5d343sFlW-VZ_Wg
I read the club are opening the top stand for any fans concerned about social distancing. Unsure how you apply for those seats though.
Swansea sign another player released by Bristol City. Seeing as how the carrots were abysmal particularly 2nd half of the season this is a strange one. Warnocks had Paterson on trial and clearly didnt want him. At least we normally sign their best players. Swansea clearly desparate for numbers. Worse frees about than Paterson I suppose.
Can they take Watkins as well? Getting concerned that he's still hanging about. Did I also read that Bennett is still training with us?
With Moore, Collins, Harris and now allegedly Vassell in the frame, I can't see the point in offering Watkins a deal though I admit he's being given every chance by Mick to earn one. When you add in the youngsters Isaak Davies and Keiran Evans, we would seem to have enough options rather than a 30 year old player who's been around the block. On the subject of Bennett, City have declared they had a duty of care towards him following his injury playing for the club. That duty is being fulfilled by allowing him to rehabilitate and train at the Vale resort at the clubs expense. Despite that, Mick has ruled out any chance of him being resigned by the club.
Agree on Watkins. I don't think he would add anything. Bennett training with us as still in recovery mode after his injury. I have no problem with that and, if fully fit, would have no problem in us resigning him on a 12/24 month deal. Albeit on a much lower wage.
I realise there is no intention to sign him and applaud the club for supporting his rehabilitation. Thought there was talk of him being picked up elsewhere though. Shows how things can go horribly wrong for a player. Hindsight a wonderful thing. Hope he gets himself fit and gets a new club. Would be an easy option to re-sign him but think Bagan is the future. Nice to see Mick talking up a number of the tyros. A welcome change. Just need to see them in the matchday squads and performing on the field now.
Getting those youngsters on the bench amongst the first team choices will be a great motivation and learning curve for them. Got a feeling that Mick will stick to his more senior players to start and introduce them sparingly unless his hand is forced by injuries, suspensions etc. I think Hilts got the team for tomorrow spot on in the matchday thread - I doubt there'll be much if any variation to that starting line up.
Even if its a 5 or 10 minute cameo it'll dangle a carrot to them. Happier for thrm to get 5 or 10 mins here and there than chuck a load of them into a league cup game, for them not to showcase their abilities in a 'safe, supportive environment', lose and dent their confidence. Seen that too often in the past. We shouldnt have more than 2 of them on the field at any time. Need plenty of seasoned pros around them to talk them through a game. Encouraging shoots of optimism though.
Yes, introduction for 10/15 minutes into a league game with experienced professionals on the pitch is a far better option than slinging half a dozen into a Carabao Cup tie. The attitude for this first round tie might be it's "only Sutton", but they will definitely be up for it and could ruin any progress made by a youngster trying to break through. Whatever the result against Barnsley tomorrow, go again on Tuesday with a "first team" squad and introduce a couple of these wannabes either to start or as early substitutions. Build the confidence not destroy it.
Well he’s with us for 3 more weeks & did his prospects of a longer stay no harm tonight. I suspect he’ll get more game time this month.
MM justifying his presence. Don't know if it improves us though. Is he better than the youngsters we have?
More experienced and physically tougher. His 2 goals justified a very short term contract but not a longer term solution and really doesn't add anything better than what we have. Perhaps MM hopes Vassell is up to playing by the end of the month?
True. I would have liked to have seen Isaak Davies get a run but it looks like MM not keen on starting with wingers.
