Deserved win, their keeper made some good saves. We still look vulnerable at the back when we try and be too clever.
Oh dear. How does Martin justify that cock up ? As embarrassing an own goal as you'll ever see. The League season starts next weekend.
MY first rule of defending is - don't pass the ball anywhere near that space between the two posts. To do so invites the possibility,( not the certainty ), that something untoward may happen, viz, goalkeeper slips, miskicks, the ball bobbles awkwardly, goalkeeper takes his eye off the ball, etc., and voila, a goal has been conceded, points needlessly lost, etc. Yesterday's own goal was a classic example of what NOT to do as a defender. Schoolboy defending, at best. That's Infant School, of course. With defending like that, opposition camps must be licking their lips in anticipation of the many gifts about to come their way. Some Coach, this Martin. Most own goals are down to plain bad luck, usually via a rebound, deflection, etc., and cannot be avoided. Yesterday's calamitous own goal, friendly game though it was, tells me all I need to know about Swansea City's defensive coaches and the mentality of Darling. I'm not impressed.
Swansea City can confirm the club’s first-team squad numbers for the 2022-23 season. Returning midfielder Joe Allen has taken the number seven shirt – previously worn by the likes of Alan Curtis and Leon Britton – following his move back to his boyhood club. Fellow new arrivals Harry Darling, Nathan Wood and Matty Sorinola have taken numbers six, 23 and 29 respectively. There has also been a change to Jay Fulton’s number, with the Scottish midfielder taking the number four jersey for the 2022-23 campaign, while goalkeeper Andy Fisher takes over the number one shirt. 1 Andy Fisher 3 Ryan Manning 4 Jay Fulton 5 Ben Cabango 6 Harry Darling 7 Joe Allen 8 Matt Grimes 9 Michael Obafemi 10 Olivier Ntcham 12 Jamie Paterson 13 Steven Benda 14 Kyle Joseph 15 Nathanael Ogbeta 16 Brandon Cooper 17 Joël Piroe 20 Liam Cullen 22 Joel Latibeaudiere 23 Nathan Wood 26 Kyle Naughton 28 Liam Walsh 29 Matty Sorinola 31 Ollie Cooper 37 Daniel Williams 40 NUMBER RETIRED 41 Jordon Garrick 45 Cameron Congreve I will post the match day thread later today or first thing tomorrow morning
It's all gone quiet on the transfer front. Perhaps the Club are hoping what they have will suffice. Compare with the tax dodgers, who are signing anybody who has two legs to stand on.
Feel sad for hm. He left Swansea for the bog time, and it hasn't worked out. Has the Swansea City curse struck again ? Anyway, good luck joe.
