Good re-signing. Grant's a solid 7 week in and week out except when the opposition allow him a sight of goal on his left foot anywhere within 30 yards. Then it's 1-0 and a 9 out of 10!

I just watched the video interview with Danny Mayor. It seems that his family are in the north, 5 hours away. It would have shown very poor character to have signed a contract so far from home without first making sure his family were happy with it. He makes it pretty clear he didn't have any reservations about the club or the manager or indeed Plymouth itself.

A bit more good news I think in that Jephcott has extended his contract to another 2 years. He started off like an express train last season but did run out of steam later (one for railway enthusiasts there). Still think he is worth a bit more effort on behalf of the club.

Notdistant you know what Argyle support is like when it comes to most things. You are damned if you move on and you are flayed alive if you take more than 10 seconds to sign on again. "Don't want him now" is the sulk, Nobody is ever allowed to talk anything over with their families who don't exist if it comes to signing for us. I mean it isn't as if any of the faithful would not instantly sign for a job without doing it is it. They do love a moan about very little. I guess all clubs have got them but it does wear a bit thin.

If anyone thinks signing a contract which means living 5 hours away from (presumably) your wife and kids for 2/3rds of the year, with weekends being your busiest time, so you can't even get on the road at 4pm on Friday and leave to come back at 4am on Monday, is easy, then there's something wrong with them, not Mayor.

Delighted too about Jephcott. I'm not so sure it was him that that ran out of puff (see what I did there?), as much as the other 10. If you make chances, he'll score them. If you don't, he won't. Still, he's hitched his wagon now and it's full steam ahead etc etc.

Signing confirmed....on an undisclosed length contract......half a defence now.

Just watched Video and it confirms that he has got a 2 year contract.

PS.....Lowe will have to watch out for all these two year contracts signed recently....or his team will all disappear at the same time......at least we've got away from 1 year contracts.

Of course Luke Jephcott's new contract gives him two years....he did still have a year left on his old one.....so a years extension.

If you look at the clear out from almost every club at this level and maybe below they are massive. We are therefore no different from the rest in that hardly anyone gets a long contract as a player or Manager for that matter. Unless you need a fill in player then one year contracts make little sense. However longer than 2 years also makes little sense. I think annual clear outs are going to be the norm at this level for years to come.

As for Mr Scarr I don't know anything about him but as usual I will judge when I've seen him play a couple of games.

20 year old Adam Randell has been voted Torquay's young player of the year....lets hope that he now becomes a regular first team player this coming season.

Out of contract, offered new contract: Joe Edwards (new 2 year contract signed 18 May), Conor Grant ( new 2 year contract signed 8 June ), Ollie Tomlinson (new contract signed 17 May), Danny Mayor (new 2 year contract 7 June), Ryan Law ( new contract signed 24 May ). Task complete!

Out of contract, released: Will Aimson, Byron Moore, Jarvis Cleal, Rubin Wilson, Scott Wootton, Klaidi Lolos, Frank Nouble, Lewis Macleod, Ben Reeves, Jack Ruddy.

New Signings: James Wilson (released by Ipswich) 21 May Dan Scar ( declined new contract offer at Walsall 10June )

Things seem to moving along nicely with, what, a month still before pre-season starts? The above doesn't really show the full task though: Woods, Opoku, Lewis and Watts have all departed after their loans ended. Although there's some double counting there: with Canavan as well we had a lot of defenders at one stage and still couldn't stop leaking goals. Since we'll probably go back to playing 3, we'll need at least one more CB even if you count Ryan Law as being combat ready and maybe two. The same applies in midfield, where MacLeod and Reeve have gone and Fornah has finished his loan. We need a couple there then and a right wing back, where we've really only got Joe Edwards. I assume George Cooper will be fit on the left with Conor Grant........... Presumably we also have Randell coming back, which is an exciting thought!

There has been good talk about Randall for most of the season at Torquay. An experienced Manager there who at least knows his stuff at league level. He thinks Randall is a good kid so that's a decent opinion for me. Lets hope he can do a Jephcott and make a place in the side his own.

A lot of chat going on here and at Tranmere that their defender Manny Monthe has said goodbye and is on his way to Plymouth.

Some League experience...but mostly non-League.....would this be a bit of a gamble ?
