They are prepared to swoop for Gomez, who has a £43m release clause, with West Ham admitting defeat and Liverpool cooling their interest. Think you are doing Harry a bit of a disservice here Saffy .... and I've already said that I wouldn't be too disappointed if we lost him, so I'm not being overly tribalistic on this one ... Tony Adams, John Terry and even Nemanja Vidic could all be turned on their day ... Maguire is actually quicker than all of them and Pep w would bring him on leaps and bounds ... him and Johnny Evans had formed a very effective partnership by the end of the season and we were looking good for a shut out against City before Kompany's worldly... Maguire is very good on the ball and I'd say he has the best distribution of any English centre back currently ... DoD you notice him dribble past 3 City players and outpace their midfield leading up to Iheanacho's howling miss btw?
Imagine if United did spend that kind of money, and the kid ended up being a flop! Little Ollie could bankrupt the club.
I'm not exactly saying he's ****e. I just think he's too slow and not good enough on the ball to play for a 'top, top side' The football was different when them defenders that you named were playing and also not one of them would have survived in a Guardiola team. He's going to go for the same sort of money as Van Dijk and he's not even in the same league as him, that's why I think you should be pushing him out the door for 70 million plus.
He's not that slow though ... hence my point about outpacing Man City's midfield ... did you see it? He is also virtually impossible to mark at set pieces ... as Southgate exploited at the world cup
Looks like the kid from Swansea to United is a done deal. £12-15m is low risk, rumours that we are loaning him to Brighton for the season.
