Would love for it to happen. Would be exactly what we need IMO. Was a while ago though, not sure where it's at now. Seems to be an infinite amount of players getting bid on, contacted and getting shown around.
Sit back, relax and see who they manage to get over the line. Quite clearly theres absolutely all sorts going on in the background. I'm optimistic we'll end up with the players needed to be at the thick end of the division adding to what we already have.
He may well have signed, certainly for Ross. Point is we've signed a 2 midfielders from championship clubs (released) something we've done before and a loaned in defender from a prem club. Also done that before too. Now these players could be much better than those signed previously (those who've played do far look it and I'm hoping they prove to be). The hope, at least from me is that we change our transfer policy and get the best young players around. Spurs did this back in the day and rose from midtable to champions league. We can do it to rise again.
Upthere over the road says we’ve been in discussions with sheff utd over Jebbison for a couple of weeks… LJ said we are getting there… I’m putting 2+2 together and getting cans
I can't blame him for that - when I first arrived at the Poly I hadn't realised Sunderland was on the coast!
We might need to agree to disagree. Certainly 2 of the 3 look a different profile to me. I am also not obsessed on age. I keep saying we are the only club in L1 with an u23 side to promote from. We have 4 or 5 pushing, plus youngsters like Diamond. To me we need to be signing experienced players to help these lads. Dan Neil looks as good as anything to me, lets get quality 30 year olds in to help him.
Lots going on but equally the quality of the apparent targets and the fact they all look like they are part of an overall strategy rather than the scattergun approach we are used to is massively encouraging. Just need to hope we get some over the line.
We had the oldest squad in l1 last season and it showed. We've resigned mcgeady and O'Nien and signed Evans and Pritchard who are no spring chickens. I'd agree maybe an experienced centre half but rest should he younger faster fitter players who can grow with us on way up leagues.
As someone that gives most people the benefit of the doubt and has absolute faith in Sluper Klev, Prehab, Wheatsheaf etc I have no idea how that lad has managed to get a reputation as ITK. Most of what he says is either nonsense (Doyle isolating with Covid anyone?) but gets ignored or has been on Twitter half an hour before he posts it.
i hadn’t noticed that. I don’t actually post on rtg and just lurk there during the windows but thought people always gave him credit for being right.
Granted McGeady needs a walking stick to get about but Evans is 30, Pritchard is 28 and O'Nien is 26. They aren't old for footballers. If you look at the players we've let go and the players we've brought in so far there's a clear shift towards a focus on youth.
Just my opinion mind. As you say plenty hold him in high regard so don’t write him off on what I say. I’ve had a few otherwise I’m sure I’d say nothing at all.
