I hope there is more than that we have always left it too late to sign players and bed them in in previous seasons.
One week gone and no ramp in sight yet. I thought we might at least have had one player from our famed list over the line by now. I'm a bit concerned that we are waiting on the out of contracts to gauge how much operational budget we have to spend. Call me a naive cynic, but the ghost of our bleak, Donald days takes some shifting!
The converse may also be true, players or rather agents, may be waiting to see what other offers they receive before deciding which contract they will sign. Think this year, given the financial situation at a lot of clubs, there may be quite a few players who find themselves scrambling for contacts as the window comes to a close and quite a few will end up worse off. Not that this helps us get players in early
You'd think the current situation would help if anything. Unless your an in demand player you'd expect agents not to mess about and get deals done rather than risk missing out altogether
Yes,I agree our recent history does not give us much confidence. However, I think we have a different set up now and I wouldn't be getting restless just yet. Logically,we will have a number of players in mind and which we are currently actively pursuing, including the existing player contract offers. I'm sure another 3 weeks will see plenty of action and things should be more or less sorted by the match at York, which will be just over a couple of weeks before the season begins.
Any normal rational human being would think along those lines. However we are talking about football agents and it's all about their percentage also some are ex players who don't live in the real world There may be a few surprised players come the close of this transfer window
Their loss not ours then. We do have some young players we're hoping can step up so not as bad as it could be. We won't panic and hope will get value for money.
think MadBob said about a week ago that no signings would be made until after some meeting on the 20th? seems nuts. pinch of salt obvs
Burge Wright Flanagan Xhemajli Gooch Neil Winchester Diamond Obrien Stewart Embleton That's about as good as we could field atm :-/
Middlesbrough set to miss out on Sunderland forward after failing to make a bid Great headline from Newsnow. My headline would be Sunderland set to miss out on Liverpool striker after failing to make a bid. Or City striker. Or England keeper. Or dead sheep.
Worrying. The new lads will need time to integrate and get used to the protocol once the arrive as well. Plus, I hope the outgoings start soon as well. There are 3 in there that I'd get shot of if possible.
It's quite a skill to write that many words and say absolutely nothing. The Echo is very good at that
I think the only further departures will be Grigg and Dobson. My fear is that Johnson might see Dobson as a project and keep him aroune
