I seem to be saying this an awful lot during this transfer period but ... who ? I see he is incoming from man utd and was on loan last season at Salford.. thats about as much as I know about him
The way of a defender has changed over the years. Whatever happened to 'hack it clear!' and 'Row Z' screamed at you from the sideline. It was coaches who started yelling 'Primula and Dairylea' that started the rot. And this is where we've ended up.
There’s an attacking mid I’d like us to take from the Man U reserves, Hannibal Mejbri. Already got three caps for Tunisia and he’s only 18. He’d fill Honeyman’s boots while he’s out.
It goes back to the very early 70's when ex City Mike Brown was on the coaching staff at Man U. He wasn't a first team regular with us but he had a long career at the very top end of Man U's coaching staff.
That's a risk of course, but if he does well he could get 2 decent contract offers from City and Club X and if City wanted him, possibly come back on a better deal. If he also got offers from other clubs it could be a useful bargaining chip for contracts with City or Club X. It was just an idea anyway and if this defender comes in from Man U it would seem the club have found their own way around it, or there's an outgoing we've yet to hear about.
I said, three days ago on here the reason we are playing Man U's under 23's this week behind closed doors could be a possible exchange of players. And you didn't think that was so either.
If I may be allowed a digression from transfer news on this thread - since there have been numerous ones already. I've often wondered what questions come up in footy quizzes to which the answer is Hull City. I don't really do or look at quizzes. Apart from the obvious as one of first teams to be involved in penalty shoot-out. What about clubs with managerial links to managers of all 4 UK home countries? Does that ever come up? Mike Smith & Terry Neill managed Wales and N. Ireland at the same time as City. Peter Taylor managed England before City and Tommy Dochery was assistant to Terry Neill before departing to manage Scotland. Docherty the tricky one, but still all 4. Are there any other clubs who could boast such a claim?
