If my memory is right he also nearly hit the clock at one end of notts county’s ground in about 1973-4 maybe our only shot of the game -in a 5-0 defeat ! Down by three at half time - a group of us took trains to get there it was hard work - added to that we had Forest fans to deal with at the match and in the station. If he’d have scored we would have accepted it as a good day
Agree totally. I don't think any new owner would buy the club, state a Premier League ambition then run the club down instead. Basically, there's no financial return in doing so. They're not gonna spend the money buying it with the intention of leaving the club to deteriorate further. They need the revenue to sustain success.
Of all the clubs he’d go to, we’d be low on the list. It’s not like Huddlestone who at 34 can play for peanuts motivated by sentimental reasons. Brady’s only 29 and probably wants to aim higher than a relegation battle in the Championship. Not only that, he’ll want decent wages too. I reckon he’ll end up at either a promotion-pushing Championship side or Celtic.
Given we're already a good few weeks into the season, he will be lacking match fitness and any club picking him up will be taking a gamble - much like we did with Hudd. It doesn't look like there's a queue forming for Brady's services.
All true but I still think he’ll end up at somewhere like Stoke or QPR or Middlesbrough who will be willing to pay him a wage we wouldn’t offer him.
I’d like someone to ask terry or the club about our summer transfer policy. Other than Bernard non of the signings can get in the team, so who decided to sign these players and why did we. We signed Tyler smith late on because we needed a striker, he can’t get in the squad. WTF has gone on I appreciate our budget/whip round was low but I believe we could have got players to strengthen the team
I don't think it's a surprise, it's exactly how it looked at the time. There wasn't many signings which looked like guaranteed starters, actually I don't think they were any. The remit of the summer felt like we needed to improve the squad, instead of the XI due to budget, but I don't think that's worked. I don't see Williams or Longman as an upgrade on Whyte, actually I think we've really missed him. He always puts a shift in and does well defensively
I agree. I’d rather have just signed 3 experienced players and a couple of loans. Cannon has looked ok.
After signing hudd cannon and moncur in centre mid you know you’d have pursued slater to the bitter end Made perfect sense that admit it glp
