If they sell casimero to Man Utd.

If you where Bruno you would find it hard to say no like.

Man Utd "closing in" on Casimero according to Beeb site.

Maybe, but not if we slap £150m price on him. It would be proper back to Ashley days if we sell.

I suppose it all depends on what we get.

£100m plus a couple of players?

I'll eat everyone's hats and lay a massive (fibrous) ****e in Fenwicks window if Bruno goes to Madrid this window, because Casimiero goes to Scum.

Casimiero is being flogged as they've got a TON of midfielders and the want the squad trimmed and wages down and they can charge a fortune for a 30 year old cos Scum are desperate. End of story.

It's bullshit paper / twitter talk.

The owners want to raise the profile of the club and us to succeed now, selling our best player would go against everything they stand for.

It would be back to the days of selling Cabaye to PSG or selling Carroll to Liverpool.

I'm inclined to agree and hope you're right.

Although... it would be kind of amusing if you had to keep to your word. I wonder how the staff (and customers) at Fenwick's would react.

The whole Bruno thing is nonsense... They've just spent £70 odd million on Tchouameni for the precise position that Casemiro occupies. One is 21 years old. The other, 30... if they can get best part all that cash back by stinging Scum, seems like a good idea.

    They've quite a few midfielders:

This is true but if the player has his head turned (I don’t think he will but you couldn’t blame him if he did) then there won’t be much we can do.

Can't see Bruno going unless we get a 9 figure sum for him tbh. Supposedly £35-40M paid for him in January and he has 4 years to run on his contract - Howe's said there's no release clauses etc. so we have no need to sell unless we are talking about ridiculously good money. 5 goals in 17 app's last season and a current Brazilian international means he's worth pretty much whatever we want for him at present, priceless to our squad and potential to encourage other players of similar ilk to join the club mean unless we had a deal the club couldn't turn down we are holding all the cards on this one.

    Agree.
But as GG said, the only problem would be IF Bruno's head is turned by any interest. An unsettled player isn't easy to keep motivated. Like we've had with Cabaye and others. But yes, you'd like to think it would surely need to be crazy money (the kind that would buy 4-5 first team players) for us to even consider any deal.

Just hope Bruno shrugs it all off. He knows he's already a legend here. Real are a much bigger/more successful club at the moment, but he has no guarantees of playing there.

Howe: Real Madrid can forget about Guimaraes

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has told Real Madrid to forget about trying to lure Bruno Guimaraes away from Tyneside amid speculation he is in their sights.

The 24-year-old Brazilian, a £40m January signing from Lyon, has been a major hit in the Premier League, but has been touted in both Spain and his native country as a replacement for Casemiro should he head for Manchester United.

Asked if he could contemplate selling Guimaraes, Magpies head coach Howe said: "No, absolutely not.

"We're trying to build a squad here that we feel can take the club to be successful over the next few years, and we want to build that squad and enhance the group, not take away our best players."

Indeed, Howe insisted Real's apparent interest in the player was simply an indication of how well he has done since his arrival at St James' Park.

He said: "Regarding speculation, I've got no problem with that as such. It's a compliment to Bruno and how well he's done for us. He's been incredible, I think - and I think he's only going to get better from this point.

"He's a very valuable member of our team."

So no new transfer yet then.

Maybe we don’t need any more.

We certainly do if we have ambition to finish higher than last season.

I'd say if we can bring a least one more attacking option in that would be satisfactory enough, if not a bit disappointing.

We need another winger. Our front 3 are mid table quality at best really. Almiron, Fraser and Murphy are bang average, ASM is inconsistent and a defensive liability.

Bruno won't be sold but if we don't make significant strides (I'll judge at the end of the window and them after the season) then he might force a move himself. I can't see how we persuade the likes of him, Botman and Trippier to come without the promise of seriously competing.

Yeah if a players head is turned we need to do what is best for the club but at the end of the day even the player is pretty powerless with 4 years to run on a contact, they can't sulk as they just get dropped and lose value, interest from elsewhere and probably his place in the national team in a world cup year... If Bruno was really pushing for a move you'd say the asking price is "X" and anything below that just get your head down and play. If we got £80m and he was stropping fair enough, deal and re-invest but again feel the club have the cards and Bruno doesn't seem like one to throw his toys out the pram.
