Probably not that often in the Championship, though he was effective in League one.

Think Patterson could have done better on both goals.

The free kick wasn’t hit with any power, and possibly savable.

The equaliser he’s in absolute no mans land.

Bristol rovers second goal against us was possibly suspect as well. So id be looking to bring in a goalkeeper if I was Alex Neil.

Someone on the post would surely just allow them to put attacking players on the goal line. Need to keep them offside to prevent this. It was an excellent free kick - not sure any blame can be apportioned for it.

The second goal specifically was his fault. If he stayed he catches that at head height. Totally in no man's land and hair floads over.

    Really !
    - the first goal was just an excellent free kick - top corner, goalie no chance - see the video above 11:40 from behind the goal.

The second goal - he was under pressure and punched it out, in hindsight, conceding a corner may have been better but their keeper would have stayed up for that too.
In my humble opinion we have higher priority signings to make.

    its not about the punch.

when their keeper heads the ball, Patterson is in no mans land, if he stays on his line, it’s an easy catch

I'd agree with that, first goal no chance and maybe he could have done better for the second but not to the extent of justifying calls for him to be replaced.

If you ditched a keeper every time they could have done something better you'd have a new one every game. Stick with him I reckon, he's got a lot of potential and I like his demeanour on the pitch.

Yeah - he looks to come out but there are 5 defenders in front of him blocking his route.
I think you are blaming the wrong man.

Yeah it's about his decision to try and come then go backwards leaving him in a position where he was useless.

Haven't been able to bring myself to post until now, such was my disappointment at the last 6 mins yesterday. Both goals so so avoidable and as Dan Neil was running alongside their player I kept shouting "take the booking" as he could and should have taken him out in the centre circle rather than the edge of the box. The 2nd goal came from us stopping playing football and only being concerned with holding on the the ball. Roberts giving it away, time after time and what do you know, he loses it, they attack, get a corner and score. So disappointing after dominating them for 89 mins

Wouldn't disagree but it was pathetic defending and midfield play to allow them to win the corner in the first place

Yeah it was. Just needed Patterson to be commanding or make the choice to stay on his line though.

I like him but I am not certain with him. Does feel a tad weak at times.

I though up until that point he had been very good - came for a few crosses that other keepers might have punched or even left alone. I think he's quite brave, but maybe naïve. Yesterday was his "Perez" moment and I hope he and the rest of the team learn from what happened

Stewart and Simms have already clicked together by the look of it. Saw lots of interplay between them they seem to be on the same wavelength, two intelligent players. Got quite a few of those in the squad now.

Yes but there’s “being surprised” and vociferously shouting “he shouldn’t even be at the club man” which happened near me when he came on! Think we were all surprised, particularly with Wright and Alese on the bench.

Stripes appears to be anti goalkeeper. He blamed Bass midweek for that wonder strike! (One that Banks and Shilton stood in the same goal would’ve struggled to save) Although I do think the second goal is all on Patterson. Stays at home and catches the ball. He chased one he was never getti. Still a young lad and a very capable keeper imo. All young keepers make mistakes like that. If we hadn’t missed the chances up top then we don’t draw. Swings & roundabouts.

I've just watched it a few times on the full 90 video
It looked nasty and as you can see the lino was looking the opposite way.
Hopefully - it's not broken but his ankle goes over so it's a strain at least.
