We have to start making pressure count, could see a nervy last 20 minutes when we failed to capitalise at the start of the second half. This is in the balance now, hopefully nerves will get the better of Sheffield in the second leg or we will have a hard task on our hands.
cheers again RTB... half time then eh, could have done with that early 2nd half pressure adding another goal or two but i feel their plan was more to hold us for a draw...they have no option but to come out fighting in second leg, could play right into our hands, more so if broadhead is back. i really dont see an advantage to playing the first leg away, unless you sneak a win and are able to basically shut up shop then in front of your own fans the pressure is really on.
Squeaky bum time converted into Richard Widmarks for the washing. A win is a really good result, as long as we don't try to protect the lead too much. Keep on playing our normal game and we can do this on Monday...
It definitely feels like a par score though. A 1-0 win was the minimum good result. what I’d say is I don’t think Wednesday can play worse. And we definitely can. So it’s so important we keep that intensity
we all wanted more, because the game on Monday will now be torture. that being said, it's impossible to be disappointed with that. we didn't let ourselves down. so that's good. ****in hell....the whole thing is an emotional rollercoaster, but that's how we get champions league attendances in the 3rd tier! Best fans in the world.
The ‘expected goals’ stats they showed suggests a 1 goal lead was a fair result. Sunderland 1.61 Sheff Wed 0.98 Alex Neil interview just on. He does speak well.
Happy with the result but I’m gutted we don’t have a better advantage. We were much the better side IMO
