Just saw Luke O’Nien walking like he’s struggling with some extra weight. He really should let Barry Bannan out of his pocket now.
oh, god....don't even talk about it. he can go to any event he wants, means nothing other than "he bought a ticket" when he probably didnt, and even if he did, he shouldn't have been allowed to. it's not a problem, and all this pic does is give him a Twitter outlet that he's not entitled to.
Andy's Player Ratings - Roker Report: Anthony Patterson: 6/10 Huge match but no sign of nerves from Patterson, other than a cross he misjudged late on he was calm, assured, and claimed everything that came his way. No real save of note to make. Bailey Wright: 9/10 An absolute rock at the back, Wright came out on top in a battle with Gregory and wasn’t troubled by Berahino. Danny Batth: 9/10 Same as Wright but also made a heroic block on the edge of the box late on. Dennis Cirkin: 8/10 He tired late on but was fantastic on the left, got up and down the line to support Clarke, and had a good chance to score but couldn’t keep his header down. Could have hoofed the ball away at the end of the first half but played a clever ball over the top that Stewart chased down. Lynden Gooch: 8/10 Completely snuffed out any danger on the right, nothing got past him, and he was vital in retaining possession in midfield. Corry Evans: 9/10 Controlled midfield for the majority of the game, read the game superbly and a real captain’s performance. Luke O’Nien: 9/10 Did a brilliant job on Barry Bannan, not giving the visitor’s dangerman a sniff. Did a lot of dirty work in the middle of the park. Jack Clarke: 8/10 Quiet in the first half but burst into life at the beginning of the second, tormenting the Wednesday right back. Then put a shift in late on as we were put under a bit of pressure. Patrick Roberts: 8/10 Almost scored a wondergoal in the second half, only for a great block from a defender to deny him an unbelievable goal. Worked hard off the ball and was unstoppable during the spell in the second half where we piled the pressure on. Alex Pritchard: 9/10 Curled a shot off the crossbar and was denied by a fingertip save by Peacock-Farrell. Was always in a yard of space when we were in possession and chased down everything when Sheff Wed were. Ross Stewart: 9/10 Brilliant determination for the opener and followed up the saved shot to score the winner. Set up Cirkin for a free header in the second half and almost got a second himself when he chased down another error but fired just wide. Substitutes Jay Matete: 6/10 Came on as we looked to see out the game and stuck close to Bannan to stop him creating anything of note. Elliot Embleton: 6/10 Had one poor delivery from a corner but worked hard as we held out for the win. Callum Doyle: n/a Man of the Match: Bailey Wright Nothing between Wright and Batth today, both were absolutely fantastic but Wright gets my man of the match as he came out on top in the battle with the in-form Lee Gregory but also dealt comfortably with Saido Berahino. Grew into the game near the end as they put the pressure on and was a rock at the back. please log in to view this image Photo by Mark Fletcher/MI News/NurPhoto via Getty Images
bannon was not good today, major off day. 09 was clearly given the job of being a nuisance to him, and he was, so fair play..............I still don't rate 09 as a midfielder.
I am quite happy with that. I thought we tries to play football mostly. You could see Neil telling them to keep it and relax. I thought we had a fair amount of control, and had the chances for a second. My perspective is this. We havent lost in 14 games. We need to lose by two goals to be knocked out in normal play. I think we have the upper hand. I also think we have learned how to get beyond them and we have learned ONien can man mark Bannan. Overall I remain confident, but not overly so.
agree apart from 09. I just don't get it. however, Neil loves him, and I'm prepared to concede that he knows way more than me.
Stewart was often a lonely figure in SW penalty, needed someone with him... I hope Broadhead is fit for the next game! We will have to score at least 1 at their place.
I think we'll find it easier to score down there tbh, I get the feeling Neil will be pleased with that.
I think Neil will know exactly what to do. We should have won by more than 1 tonight but hey ho, nevermind. I didn't think they were anything flash at all tbh. They were average at best imo.
He was but I thought Wright nicked it. 6 for Patterson is just stupid. He's going to have a great career. Back 4 were solid. First half poor going forward, 2nd half should have scored when on top. I thought Wednesday looked dangerous at the end with set pieces as they had more big men than us. No idea on the team for Monday but satisfied with the result today.
I’d be starting Broadhead on Monday if he’s fit enough. No point saving him for Wembley as there’s a 2 week break. Think we defended brilliantly today and with Batth and Wright I have every confidence we will on Monday. But if we allow them to attack and soak up pressure then it will be a long old game. Would much rather we took it to them and had two strikers on, so every time the ball gets cleared to Stewart he can flick on to Broadhead who can challenge their frankly woeful defence for pace. I honestly think we can and will create better chances away to them than we were able to today with them essentially playing for a 0-0. Tbh even if it knackered Broadhead for Wembley I think it would be worth it. Firstly there’s no Wembley if we don’t go through. And secondly I reckon we beat Wycombe with or without Broadhead. We’ll have so much possession and Pritchard and Embleton will cut holes in them. now I’m off to bed before @Nonsense Potter tells me I’m talking out my ass again
