Let's face it, we could be 3 or 4 -1 down. Our defence is sleep-walking and they're ripping holes through our back line - what you got for us Gus? ...surely we need to make changes - roles, tactics, zonal marking ...
they're pushing high, with wingers and adebayor running behind the defence. Eriksen is pulling the strings here with chips and through balls. Catts need to man mark him, take him out the game. let Rodwell and Larsson deal with closing down Capoue and dembele who are sitting deeper in comparison. If we push to high the game becomes very tight and long balls over the top from the spurs defence means we'll be torn apart. Counter attacking is probably our best chance in this game. Take out eriksen and hit them on the break with connor, johnson, Alverez etc
Right now I will take any crumb on offer. Spurs should have been out of sight, but at least we are not giving up easy.
Meanwhile, Wes takes one for the team We looked very well beaten out there and don't deserve the point.
I don't mind that, many times we will be the better team this season and get nothing. Good fighting back after falling behind twice.
The only good thing out of that game was that we never gave up. At times though our football was dire and we were very much second best.
I felt we deserved something from the game. We didnt deserve to win, i wont argue that. Spurs were very good today, they came with a plan to attack our slow defence with speedy wingers and balls over the top and it worked. But this is the third time this season we've came back to get a point and im very proud of that, it shows determination and hard work from the team. I believe when we got behind now we can still get something out of the game and so will the players. QPR is the only game ive been disapointed with so far, we were all over them and they won, but that's football. Still a better start than last year, with a better manager and improved squad. Im happy
Hard earned point for your lads, but Poyet made the more positive changes and you could've nicked it near the end. You were definitely hanging on a bit at times for the first hour or so, but you worked hard, stayed compact and did the dirty work, keeping the score close. Chucked on Buckley and Giacharrini (sp?) and got back level, then pushed for the win, despite being on the back foot for most of the game. Feels like we let the points slip, in all honesty, but Pochettino went a little defensive after we went 2-1 up and I think it cost us. Hopefully he'll learn from that and kill a few more teams off. Very nice thread by the OP, especially the contribution from the Spurs fan and an entertaining game to go with it. Good luck for the rest of the season, barring your visit to WHL. You must definitely be happier than your mates down the road, though they might get some news to cheer them up soon!
Yes, Rodwell needs game time, thats obvious, and we do have a good player in him, but at the moment i think he's the weakest player in the middle. Larsson and catts have been decent
